Ok... I finally had to sit and write a review. We've had two incidents where people have knocked on our door loudly and shook the door knob. One which happened tonight (Christmas Eve). My husband looked through the peep hole as he was walking away. He was a black male about 6ft. with corn rows. The first time was a large black lady with a long braided weave. There are homeless people that rumage through the garbage dumpsters. This is a gated community. However, it doesnt seem to matter'
The grounds "appear" to be nice but if you look closely all of the green grass has dog feces that dominate the grounds. There are plenty of Doggie stations to make it rather easy for tenants to be responsible for their pets. However, the tenants dont seem to have regard for other people or their pets. I am a dog lover and have a small dog. Its to the point Ive had to purchase doggie pads for the patio so my dog can go on them there. Its just too dirty and unsanitary to walk her anymore. I tried to pick up the mess just so my dog would have a clean place to go and when I did there was maggots all underneath both times I tried. Its absolutley horrible. Im really disappointed as the rent here is substantial in which we didnt mind paying as we thought we were getting what we paid for. With the rent being as it is we desire & expect a certain amount of quality of living.

If you live on the 1st or 2nd floor be prepared for it to be very very noisy. Overall Im extremley disappointed with the apartment complex as whole and would not recommend it to anyone. We are looking forward to moving already and we've only been here a couple of months.

Good Luck!

I moved out two years ago and completely agree with all of your comments. At first sight it appears nice. When you move in you realize it's junky, there is dog crap everywhere, people are loud, repair requests only sometimes get answered, parking sucks, and my car was towed twice. I'm a female and had to park across the street in the middle of the night b/c all the spots get taken up by 9 p.m. There was a ho bag stripper/hooker living below me, always had nasty guys coming over. By the way, I have a dog too, and cleaned up after him, but clearly others did not, the grassy area was a health hazard. Partly the apartment's fault for not stocking up on bags. I had to buy my own doggie bags b/c the doggie bag stations were always empty - even though each dog owner pays $50 extra per month. Archstone makes way more than enough in pet fees to fully refill the stations every morning and keep the yard clean - no excuses!! I am SOOOO glad I moved out of this place.

Just be prepared to lose you deposit. I was only there for 3 months and I took pictures of EVERYTHING. They sent me a letter informing me that they were keeping my deposit AND charging me another $100 or so. I spoke to someone at Fair Housing and eventually I got some of my money back. The girl from the office was funny, she said "well I looked at the pictures and I could tell if there was any damaged so I'll compromise, we'll split the difference". Wait, if you can't tell if there's damage it probably because nothing was damaged. One of the charges was for cleaning behind the gas stove. Archstone expects you to pull out a gas stove and clean behind it, that's no joke. I told the woman that it probably isn't safe to have tenants disturbing gas lines in order to sweep a dust ball but it didn't matter. My advice would be to steer clear of Archstone, there are so many other better deals out there.

Archstone MV is really nothing more than a glorified college dorm. The majority of residents (at least eighty-five to ninety percent) are college kids sharing apts which is probably the only way to afford the overpriced rent. If you split the rent between 3 or 4 roomates it might be worth it. The one positive thing is that they have excellent maintenance staff and a great response time on service requests, but it's just not worth the money. Warning: it's an acoustic ghetto. In other words, there's high noise levels due to the layout of the buildings. Noise bounces off everything. When someone talks on their cell phone on the patio it can sound like they are in your living room. You'll hear converstaion in another apt if a window is open. Also, if you live on the 1st or 2nd floor you'll definitely know when there are people home above you because their simple walking around upstairs will sound like stomping.

I agree the place is not maintained at all and the management is awful.....as far as the deposit, I paid $100 for it in 2004 and they informed me I would owe another $700 for carpet due to my dog....I haven't lived there for 4 months and still no bill and its passed the 21 days they have.....so, the disorganization of the management can pay off.....ps. I did the doggie pads too due to the poor maintenance....
