I am a travel nurse and stayed on the 2nd floor of the apartment complex for 6 mos. I was lucky enough to get the corner unit. I had my own gated entrance leading to the balcony/patio. The storage is big enough to hold personal belongings-that's a plus! I love the 9 ft ceiling and built in computer desk. My unit is close to the trolley station and parking was never a problem for me at any given time-always got the covered parking space. The bathroom is very spacious and lots of cabinet space. The kitchen same wise. The gate to the entrance of the complex is very assuring and I just feel safe. When I had a complaint about my neighbor above me making noise i.e., constant moving of furnitures-sound, the business office acted upon it quickly and even made a follow up call. I never had any problems with pets and kids running around. I love the pool area. Every morning they always hose down the ground and maintain the landscaping. The gym is awesome-never crowded! It even has a TV and game room-pool and darts. Very convenient to everything. Public Libary, shopping center (Costco with gasoline station, Lowes, IKEA,) IHOP, japanese and chinese, sports and grill restaurants, Starbucks ,McDonalds, Nail Place, Postal Annex for mailing, faxing etc.- -almost eveything is there. The Qualcomm Stadium is a mile away and even got to see 2 games/playoffs. Convenient to interstate 805, 5, 8 163 and airport is just 8 miles!! I just had a blast living in Archstone apartment in San Diego!! I will stay there again!!

I do believe most of what you said. I would have a TOTALLY different opinion of Archstone if they had returned my security. Like I've said earlier Archstone is almost criminal when it comes to the security deposit. I lived in the complex for THREE months, I'm a neat freak, I don't smoke, hung NO pictures, take my shoes off when I enter... but yet Archstone attempted to take every penny of my security deposit AND charge me $100 on top of that. Their claim was that they had to completely repaint the apartment, shampoo the carpets and pay for a full clean. Really? After 3 months? I had taken pictures and it was ONLY when I threatened to take them to court that they returned HALF of my money. The told me that they had to keep the other half to cover the cleaning expenses because I failed to clean BEHIND the GAS oven. Oh yeah, Archstone expects you to pull out the GAS oven and clean behind it. I can see how if you didn???t have to put down a security deposit you might have a favorable opinion.
As far as the pool goes we had a few problems. Fort a few weeks there were frat parties down there EVERY NIGHT as soon as it got dark. This went on for a while and ONLY stopped because I called security every night. The topper was the family we ran into on one of our last night there. The father got out of the hot tub wearing boxer briefs. If that wasn???t bad enough shortly after he got out his 11 year old son did a cannon ball into a hot tub full of people completely nude.

I used to date a travel nurse. Travel nurses stay in a corporate paid apartment. That being said, I know that Archstone has a long term contract with whomever this nurse is employed with. It is no mistake that you were so lucky to get such a nice apartment in the better part of the building. Corporations take care of other corporations not the everyday men or women paying the rent with their own money. My ex-girlfriend / travel nurse never had to pay rent or place a deposit because it was all taken care of by the company that she works for... She had a real sweet deal.
