Avion at Spectrum
AVERAGE RATING

My husband and I lived here for over a year. My parents have also been here for over a year and are in the process of renewing a year lease. It is expensive and that is the reason why Im not living here any more. You get what you pay for. Our experience here has been great. I wish I never moved. Montgomery Field can be annoying especially when the stupid helicopters practice. Like any apartment you never know who your neighbors will be. Some are very noisy, some are rude, some are friendy... Its part of living in apts. I think the management does their best. Its hard making everyone happy and people aren't always easy to deal with. We dont always get our way, but I can tell they try. There was a guy named Philip that used to work in the office and he was sooo annoying. If he answered the phone I would hang up. He always made the problem worse. Now we always ask to speak to Amber. I dont anyone else. I was reading reviews on other apts. People write some scary stuff. So then I looked up Avion to compare since Ive lived here and know what its like. I dont belive any of these reviews now cause I give Avion a 4.5!! Someone wrote they rented a 1 bd for $1800 that is impossible!!! Call the offfice for prices

Based on the current market, Avion apartments are overpriced. You can get similar apartments for at least $200 cheaper. People are asking for rent reduction or moving out.

1800? That's not impossible. I'm in one of the cheaper units due to the location and it costs over 1600 dollars. Add a pet onto that with their additional monthly fees and you'll spend more. I've been here for a few years now and every time we renew they raise the prices. The last time we didn't even get any incentives at all. They've sold out to these corporate contracts so your neighbors change every few months. It's a nice community, it's well kept, it's clean (save for the idiots who put TRASH on their porch like it's the holiday frigging inn). All in all not a bad place. I've never heard anyone through the walls...occasionally through the floor on rare occasions, but the doors are of poor quality and allow ALL of the hallway/stair noise into the unit. There have been very few break-ins...my issue is not with the place itself. My issue is with the price gouging. Zero appreciation for long-time renters. I won't be renewing again. Rent for a 1bedroom/1bath should not be equivalent to a mortgage payment.

I agree with almost everything written. But the $1800 for a 1 bd I dont understand..?????? My 1 bd was $1500. My parents largest 2 bd 2ba is $1760. They did raise the rent by $25 at one renewal. But lowered the rent at the last renewal because my parents were going to move out. Ive called properties similar to Avion, in the same area and in mission valley. The prices are close if not more. San diego is just overall overpriced. Montanosa is cheaper but the manager said they raise the rent by about $65 at end of lease. Im a native and it breaks my heart that we had to move to Florida because its so hard to get ahead here and have a family.

I was paying $1500 for a 1 bedroom when I left. Add a garage and a pet and it'll go way over 1800.

I agree. The rent is overpriced. I live here and I'm starting to search for a new place. Has anyone try to ask them for a rent reduction? I notice that there are quite a few vacancy...

I was just there today and a 2bed/2bath was running for about $1600. Pet rent is $50, which is a pretty standard cost(I have been to MANY properties), and you only pay utilities you use and not a division based on the properties total use and individual units. I will agree that about 2 years ago the rent was up there, but it seems to have come down a GREAT deal. I have not lived on the property, so I cannot atest to anything else.
