My husband and I have lived here since April '09. We have one of the larger 1bed/1bath apts.
Okay as far as noise, we live in the "dog" building since we have one. Yes we can hear other ppls dogs barking and usually it doesn't bother us (we're used to our little one making noise) but it does get annoying on Saturday mornings when the owners let the dogs continuously bark...I mean come on ppl it's not hard to tell them to be quiet!
As far as neighbors we can't hear them in our apt. When walking into the building we can hear one of the apts that constantly has parties making a lot of noise but once inside our apt we dont hear them so it's not a problem.
The grounds look nice. They are kept clean, well maintained. The pool is closed right now for what reason I dont know. On the east coast I know apts close the pool in sept b/c it gets freezing and snowy but what the reasoning is for closing it here I dont know'' The hottub has been broken for a couple months now and that is frustrating =/
The office staff is super nice. I've personally never had a problem with anyone there. They always make me feel very welcome when I come in to drop off my check. They ask how my dog is doing and tell me I should bring him with me next time. They also have cookies (sometimes) which are the cheapy cookies but oh they are yummy.
When I moved in they bragged about having lots of resident events at the pool but we've been here for 6 months and so far there has only been one. It was a catered luncheon and afterwards they had a drawing for some pretty cool prizes...wii's, flat screen tvs, movie tickets.....only bad thing was that all the winners were ppl who had turned in rsvp cards but either left early or didn't show up at all...so the drawing was bland as no one present won anything (the winners had their prizes dropped off at their apts)....I think they should have given prizes to those who actually bothered to showed up to the event.
As far as the actual apt:
Okay not all of the apts have this but ours does...you can view pics online but the wall of our apt that we share with the hallway to the building...we have these SUPER tacky glass cube "windows". They are so freakin ugly. You can see figures walking by (which on several occasion has freaked me and my husband out when we were watching scary movies lol) and I feel like if I'm in my kitchen they can see me...like not clear and detailed but say if I was scantily dressed...they could probably tell. I feel like I dont have 100% privacy in my home.
In the bathroom there is carpet! ICK! Only in the larger 1bed model though. The carpet leades from the hallway right into the bathroom up to the sink. It's not in front of the toilet or shower though...but still eww.
The kitchen sink is a double sink which is awesome but they are pretty shallow which makes washing really large pots kind of difficult but not impossible. Other than that the apt is amazing.
We have really pretty crown molding (something you dont find in a lot in apts), we got brand new carpet when we moved in. The kitchen and bathroom has real tiles..not linoleum. Our walkin closet is huge! All the doors in the apt are six panel doors with push down handles (just a cosmetic thing I like) Our front door is also a six panel door instead of the usual metal apt doors you usually see. We have a gas fireplace with a beautiful mantel...I can't wait till xmas to put stockings on it.
We dont get cell phone reception in our apt which has been really annoying!! We either have to sit with our head really close to a window or go outside to talk to anyone. I'm not sure this is the case with all the apts but I would make sure you check 2 see how many bars you have beforehand lol
I would definitely rent here again. I love it here. I'm considering switching apts though just to add on a 2nd bedroom, get rid of the carpet in the bathroom and those glass cube windows lol...if I switch apts I will have really nothing to complain about.
Oh and if you rent a small 2bed apt you have the option of choosing a garage (for a little higher rent of course) but if you get the larger 2bed it automatically comes with one. And if you are on the bottom floor 2bed your garage is attatched directly to your apt so you can walk right in =)
As for parking...personally no one has ever parked in our spot. My husband has a big car so it took some getting used to parking in the spots which are made more for compact cars but he's got it now =)
As far as guest parking...we hardly EVER have guests and when we do they come in the daytime when ppl are at work so there's always a space for them...at night I have no clue what guest parking would be like...sorry.
In case anyone was wondering we pay $1360 rent/$50 pet rent/$30 storage unit which comes to $1440 a month for a 1bed/1bath apt.
