It's Decent as a Stepping Stone

I moved into Carmel Summit 6 months ago, and thought it was going to be fantastic. I found it was just adequate. There are several good things about the complex, but the bad things even out those good.
So- we'll start with the good:
The parking is great- I've thrown parties and there were still enough room for other residents to park as well as my guests.
The apartment itself is beautiful, the balconies are very nice and it is the perfect size for my husband and I.
It is walking distance to grocery stores and other useful stores.
The neighbors are friendly- we have only had a bit of trouble with our upstairs people being a little loud from time to time.

Now- the negatives that make it harder to live here are:
We are only going to be living here for 6 months because THEY RAISE THE RENT. When you come to look at the place, make sure to ask. We knew there had recently been a rent increase when we moved in, but then after 6 months they raised it $30 if you wanted to sign another 6 months, OR $90 if you wanted to go month to month.
Management is not the greatest. I'm very patient, but there were a few things that we wanted fixed that took a very long time. Once they were fixed, it took us a while to figure it out too, because they don't leave any documentation at your apartment to let you know something was even done. There were also some things that we asked to get done that never got done- like cleaning the Chimney. Also, they take a long time to get in touch with you when you leave a message, sometimes up to a few days.

For me, those two negatives are very BIG, and have made me move.
I think that Carmel Summit is a good stepping stone for buying a place, but that is about it. If you can afford it (and the price hikes), then it is a great place. There are several more affordable places to live, though. I highly reccomend renting from a private person instead of a company.
