Carmel Summit was a very nice place to live for the last several years. With BRE the new property owners it is no longer a nice place to live. The management is not friendly. The management is never available by phone or by office visit. The quality of tenants has dropped dramatically. The old management had high requirements to live in Carmel Summit. This kept the crummy people out of here. Now, there are several young scummy people living in one apartment with dozens of cars parked everywhere. The Carmel Summit has turned into a big party place and is full of low life tenants. There is trash everywhere and the grounds are no longer clean and nice. My wife and I are looking to move out ASAP! Don t move here unless you are looking for lower end apartment living.

I agree. I am a young tenant, but like you and your husband, want peace and quiet. I'm a full-time college student and full-time worker so I don't have time for having that much fun, even if I wanted to. I've lived here several years with both the old management and the new and what a difference management really makes! It truly did feel cleaner (and quieter) before hand when they actually screened incoming tenants. Our old neighbors had lived here a while, but soon moved out after their rent got raised. They were quiet and friendly and were then replaced with unfriendly, rude, and loud neighbors--right above us, so we can hear everything! They throw their cigarette butts from the top of the stairs and it lands in our yard, making us look like slobs when we take great care to make our place look clean. In addition, nobody on my section of the complex parks in their garages and because I work late nights, I NEVER, ever have a spot to park close to my apartment. Now our lease is up and BRE wants us to move out and charge us much more for honestly, upgrades that are far from wow-worthy. There are actually larger, nicer places in areas like La Jolla and Del Mar where you get what you pay for. I don't think I can stand the thought of living here much longer, so I'm probably not going to renew my lease. I don't recommend this place for others either, unless of course, they don't care for an upscale, quiet and selective community.
