Great Place To Live

First of all, I'll start by saying it took me four months to write this after moving into Club River Run. And it makes me realize that most people who have something positive to say about a place will probably never take the time to write a review. However, I relied heavily on Apt. ratings as I was searching for a place for my family, so here I am contributing back.

We moved from the East Coast during the height of summer rental season. So there were only two apts available in this large complex (there are something like 300 units here and now in Nov. many units appear to be empty). We took a second floor unit as my fiance felt safer on the second floor. The unit feels larger than the first floor because it has huge vaulted ceilings. I was surprised by how spacious it ended up being. (And just a quick note on safety, this place is very safe--so no worries there.)

One of the biggest pluses for us is the in-unit laundry. We have a three week old baby and laundry was a big factor for us. Two beds and two baths is a plus, but will eventually be the reason we move out. With two kids, we will need another bedroom eventually. The day we moved in, one of the office ladies (who has since moved to another property) told us the complex is a bit older. She said this is a good thing because the walls are a bit thicker than newer places and that cuts down noise. I sorta thought she was trying to unneccesarily sell us despite the fact we'd already signed the lease. But it turns out she was serious. This place is very quiet. The only time I can hear anything at all is sometimes a slight sound of water pipes in the bathroom area. But other than that, we've actually never heard any of of neighbors in four months!

Back to the office staff...and I am not employed by this or any other complex (had to throw that out there). They are great. I mean, you might think it doesn't matter, but it does. The best thing about management here is how they follow up on any request you might have. We've only had to call about a few minor things, which were responded to practically immediately. The maintenance staff is always around and doing something to make the complex better or just maintained. But after they come, a day or two later the office staff calls to make sure the request was taken care of and completed satisfactorily. Talk about great customer service.

There's a pool here which is great, and also a jacuzzi. Four tennis courts, a gym, a computer room and great location. It's close to a bunch of freeways but just far enough outside of downtown that you don't feel as though it's too urban. But here again is another reason we will eventually move out. I want to be up in North County as my work is up there and I'm already a bit tired of the drive. If I were working anywhere in the city, this place would be ideal.

So overall, we're very happy here. We have a dog and he's happy with all the grass he has to cruise around on. It's close to our 4th grader's school (which I researched extensively and we're very happy with). Of the few things I would say negatively...the first is obvious. It's expensive here. And with only one income right now because of the baby, it's barely affordable for us. If I had to do over, I would think twice about this place based solely on the expense. And considering how many empty units I see around, I would venture to say the economy and the cost of living here has had a huge effect on Club River Run's bottom line. But after the price, it's only physical things about this place that would make us move. Need for a third bedroom and proximity to work.

Bottom line, if you can deal with the heafty price tag this is a great place to call home.
