An okay apartment for college students

Years at this apartment: 2006 - 2008

I lived in this place for two years while I finished up my bachelors at San Diego State University. It was an excellent place to live for someone like me who doesn't have a car, only a 10 or 15 minute walk to most of my classes.
That is probably the biggest perk of living at this apartment complex. The first manager there, Lindsay, was a complete nightmare. While she did manage to keep the place relatively quiet, she was the most ---- person I have ever met. She would come over and knock on our door and tell us we were being too loud while doing stuff such as: washing the dishes, doing homework, watching television at a reasonable volume; I am not kidding. Her interpretation of "too loud" was "if I can hear it in the hallway outside" -- so if you have your window or door open and you happen to be talking, you are too loud. She even tried to evict us for arguing with her about how loud we were being... really not cool.
But anyways, the second manager (I think her name was Kim, but I'm not sure because I never actually saw or met her) was a complete ghost. Never saw her, never talked with her in person or on the phone, and never met her. I did call her a couple times for maintenance related stuff, but she just forwarded the message to the man without calling me back, and eventually I just started calling him directly instead. So other than being pretty unresponsive and unavailable, she wasn't bad. Better than the old manager, at least.
All in all, the place was alright, quiet for the most part (except construction and drunk college morons in the street... but that is to be expected around the college area), and a pretty nice size for the price. When I first started renting in 2006 it was only $1195 a month, but the price went up to $1325 in 2007. Wouldn't want to pay much more than that for this place. Aside from the units, the rest of the complex is nothing spectacular. Don't live here if you have a big car, the parking is very tight. I was also a little scared to live there with the possibility of an earthquake in the future, since the building does not seem at all earthquake safe (we couldn't even find studs in the walls with a stud-finder). There is a pool, but I never used it. Landscaping is pretty dull. Like I said, nothing special.
