This place is horrible.
We had time warner cable with digital recording service (run through cable line).
We are now being forced into contract with consolidated smart systems (which contracts with DirectTV), no longer able to select what provider we would like to go with (NAZI CAMP!!). With this service in order to have digital recording we would have to use the telephone line...guess what, the only telephone jack is in the kitchen that means I would have to run a wire through my kitchen to my bedroom to get the same service!!!
So I brought this up with management, they promptly handed me a complaint form and said good luck!!! They could have installed the telephone jack for god sakes!!!
To boot, consolidated smart systems has you sign a contract for 1-2 years!!! They say hey don't worry if you move direct TV will go with you...guess what, they fail to mention that not many apartment complexes allow you to put a dish up so if you move...hello you are screwed and have to pay for TWO services (kickbacks to coral bay I'm sure!)
Lastly, my car has been vanalized on three separate occasions, parking is inadequate, management is RUDE and incompetant/inflexible and incorrect.
Consolidated smart systems also said that they would look at the entire installation issue with the recording service on the TV and if they couldn't do anything they wouldn't charge me.
Well guess what they couldn't even install the boxes because they didn't bring a long enough telephone line to run through my kitchen to living room....yet they had already charged me the day before for both TIVO boxes(hey wait you said I wouldn't be charged until I spoke with someone)...I WAS CHARGED which because they lied to me, bounced my account! PLUS THEY CHARGE YOU TWICE AS MUCH AS DOES DIRECT TV WHEN YOU GO THROUGH DIRECT TV DIRECTLY!!!!
WTF, I can't write any more...trust me...there is SO MUCH MORE!!!
Mold and mushrooms growing in the bathroom out of the holes in the walls...need I go on!'!'! Their solution' Spray alcohol on it...then it grows back in 2 weeks!

For approximately the next six weeks, you have an opportunity to influence the direction of federal rulemaking with respect to exclusive contracts held by Consolidated Smart Systems and other television service providing companies. The government has decided to evaluate exclusive contracts held by television service providers (see short press release at or very long official notice at www.fcc.gov under "FCC Initiates Rulemaking to Evaluate Access to Multiple Dwelling Units for Video Providers") Depending on the comments received, this may result in a rule regulating, restricting, or prohibiting such contracts, or in no action being taken. After carefully considering whether you feel that the benefits, if any, that tenants receive from exclusive contracts between Consolidated Smart Systems and building owners or managers are outweighed by the problems that you described, you should participate in the federal "rulemaking" process by commenting in the proper way, before it is too late to do so.
If Consolidated Smart Systems had an exclusive contract, then they knew that your only options were either to receive service through them or not receive service at all. Without an exclusive contract for the building, they would either treat the customers well enough to keep the customers from deciding to obtain service from another provider or would lose business when customers changed to another provider.
If Consolidated Smart Systems did not have an exclusive contract, would you have done business with them in the first place or with one of their competitors? If you would have done business with them initially, would you have stayed with them or left for a competitor?
The FCC is now soliciting comments on whether exclusive contracts for the provision of television service unreasonably impede competition and, if so, what should be done to correct the problem. Comments are due no later than June 18 (reply comments are allowed until July 18).
There are at least twp ways to file comments. A. Follow the instructions in the notice. B. Go to http://gullfoss2.fcc.gov forwardslash prod forward slash ecfs forwardslash upload_v2.cgi and enter 07-51 for the proceeding number.
If you want to follow the instructions in the notice, they are in Section 18 (pages 7-8 of the PDF file) and give you the option of paper or electronic filing.
To get an idea of what types of comments are being solicited, you should read the press release or notice. However, even if you just explain your experience with Consolidated Smart Systems and indicate what, if anything, you feel would have been different without the exclusive contract, your comments might be influential.
