I'm a UCSD student and have been living here since January 2007. An honest assessment of this apartment complex: only move here if you have no other option. The location is ideal, particularly for UCSD students and mallrats, but the quality is next to nil. The elevator in building 8550 frequently breaks down, and when it is working, fellow residents use it as a restroom and as a garbage can. Parking is an absolute nightmare if you don't have enough designated spaces inside the garages (and don't bother putting your name down for an extra space--it won't happen). They kicked us all out of our parking garages in order to powerwash them without providing an alternative parking area and consequently my car was towed (I parked in another building's overflow area but was not informed that it was ALSO being powerwashed). We have had several complaints and questions for management, all of which have been ignored. Rent is way too high. My roommates and I pay a discounted $1765 per month for a 2 bed, 2 bath (it was originally $1965 but they cancelled our first lease) but the quality of service is not worth what we pay. There is a great deal of construction going on which starts at 7 a.m. and is easily heard. The walls between apartments are paper-thin and I can frequently hear my neighbor's cell phone ringing. The MCAS base is nearby, and it is quite usual to hear helicopters and jets flying overhead. Firetrucks and ambulances race by the apartments three or four nights a week. The gates in the parking garage are frequently broken, and the chlorine levels in the hot tubs and pools are kept ridiculously high so that no one has to clean them for a couple of weeks at a time. Please explore other options. Don't waste your hard-earned money on Costa Verde Village.
