I only lived in Costa Verde for a couple of months over summer, and thank god for that. This place was poorly maintained, ridiculously overpriced, unsafe, and inconvenient to live in. Management almost never answers the phone, and the "managers" who field any complaints seem to never be in the office. The general sanitation of my building was disgusting. The carpets were stained solid with God knows what, the trash chute stunk up the entire hallway, and there was often food and trash littering the hallways and elevators. The maintenance was also atrocious. Our pool key never worked, so we had to hop the fence every time, the elevators were regularly broken, and I got stuck in the elevator twice in one week (I had to call for help and everything). Cars were constantly being broken into, inside and outside the gates, and safety was a joke with the poorly lit garages, blind cornered hallways, and dark walkways. Parking is also a total nightmare, with insufficient amount of spaces even for residents, consistently packed street parking, and about 5 guest spots per 100 unit building. There was also constant noise from neighbors, traffic, and construction coming through the thin walls. This is the type of place that a college student would suffer through if the rent were ridiculously cheap, but unfortunately that is not the case. This place was a nightmare, and I would advise any UCSD student to pay less and live farther from campus just to avoid apartments like these.
