Lived in North for 2 years

Overall I really liked living there. Kinda started missing it after i moved out a few months ago.

-Had a really good gym available to tenants very near my apartment.
-Appliances(washer, dryer, fridge, microwave, a/c) mostly worked pretty well. Garbage disposal crapped out after a few months, but after I called maintanence, they fixed it pretty quickly
-Rent only went up $10 the first time we had to renew the lease. If we'd ended up staying a 3rd year though, it would've gone up $100 but still not too bad for a La Jolla apartment
-Noise was ok for me from my room, aside from the neighbor next door who liked blaring reggae music occasionally. My roommates on the other hand often complained about the upstairs tenants running around alot and making lots of noise. Didn't hear any of that from my room for some reason
-Parking was decent but not great. 2 assigned spots and very limited overflow parking. Usually worked out ok for the 3 or us. Now the bad news, very very bad security. My roommate had his car stolen from underground gated parking, which you need a remote to get into. I've known at least 4 other people who had their car stolen or broken into in this area. Heard a rumour that there were people working on the inside at Costa Verde that were in league with the car thieves. Saw security change companies like 5 times while I was there but that didn't seem to do anything.
-Good place for UCSD students. I took either the public buses or the shuttle to school, both within walking distance.
-When we moved out, we got back most of our deposit. $70 for cleaning, but kinda expected considering the state of one of our bathrooms. One good thing about the deposit though was that it was really small, compared to some of the other apartments nearby. As students, we needed a co-signer to get the apartment though.

Overall, I would recommend an apartment in the North side. Unless you have an expensive car...
