Good location, but average otherwise--pricey

I've lived at Costa Verde for 2 years now and am for the most part satisfied. Rent prices were much better when we moved in though, and at the prices they have at the moment(our rent has gone up about $300 over the past 2 years) I would probably consider somewhere else in UTC. Maintanance has always been excellent at responding to issues within 48 hours usually. The management at the leasing office is also very helpful from my experiences. The building I live in is pretty quiet. The gym is also the best among UTC apartments. The location is great, especially for UCSD students as there's a shuttle stop right on the corner of Regents/Nobel. As far as car theft/vandalism is concerned, that is a problem you really can't avoid if you're looking for a place in UTC(esp. if you have a Civic or Camry), read reviews on other places. Over the two years I've been here, I've seen two cars vandalized but I've never had a problem personally. It's best to use common sense and not keep valuable items in your car or consider getting a steering wheel lock(not just for Costa Verde, but anywhere in UTC).
The apartments themselves are a little rundown now, so if location isn't an issue I would probably take La Jolla Crossroads or Villas at Renaissance over Costa Verde simply for the newer construction/facilities. But all in all it's not nearly as bad as others have painted it out to be.
