I was about to move into this place in about a month. I got excited about this place because they reduced the rent and I had a good impression about the community since my buddy used to live here back in 04 and he really liked it. I guess things have changed since then. I know i will probably lose my security deposit but at least I won't have my brand new car stolen.
I also got the interactive crime map from the san diego police department and from may 1st 2009 to july 31st 2009 there have been 22 vehicle break-ins and theft in this complex(north and south combined). Isn't there a law making these lanlord disclose these stats with people'

I already live in la jolla. I decided to move out because i left my window open and a homeless guy vandalized my apartment. but the police called me today telling me that they caught the guy in a neighboring house. The place I'm at right now does not have a covered parking so I use a car cover for my new car. I wanted to move to a place which is safer than my current place and I put that down in my application and told them that verbally. however, they never disclosed this information to me. I can take legal action against them for just not disclosing that information to me. The last time I sued was back in 07 and I sued Michael chertoff the attorney general and I won!

I lived there and when I was turning in my keys I told the manager we were moving for several reasons but the main reason was because of the theft in this building, she said we have over 6000 residents and if 20 cars are stolen that is a small percentage compared to the number of people living there. Basically, they don't care. Women have been attacked, homes broken into and people have knocked on my door I did not know and cursed me out for not opening my door. Believe me, I have met so many people who had their cars or motorcycles stolen. It is not the worth the low rent, now you know why it is so low. But think about the hot water charge, it is a scam. Other apts charge for water but not for hot water. Like I said before in my review, I was out of town over 14 days and I was charged over 50.00 for hot water. They could not even show me the meter for my unit, There is a huge turn over of residents. Find somewhere else, La Jolla Colony is owned by the same company I would never rent an apt for these people ever. Even the manager does not live at Costa Verde. Good luck!
