First want to confirm that I am an actual resident of the Heritage & not a staff member trying to down-play bad reviews. I live in one of the town-home style apartments and have no serious complaints. Grounds are well kept/maintained, any inconveniences (i.e. construction work) are always relayed to residences. Security is visable (gated entry & underground parking), and you feel fairly safe at night--a security guard walks the premises. Any & all complaints I have brought up with management have always been addressed in a timely manner (i.e. issues with their contracted cable company, or simply need a light bulb to be changed). Noise within the complex I live in is very minimal and I have had no problems with neighbors--everyone pretty much keeps to themselves. Adjoining apartments can sometimes be promblematic as far as noise, but it is a rarity--I sometimes work 12hr night shifts at the hospital and have yet to experience excessive noise problems while trying to sleep. Then again, what complex in San Diego with adjoining apartments does not have "paper-thin" walls' Yes, the rent is not cheap, but one has to consider the area they're living in: Downtown. All decent apartments in this area are going to be overpriced. On a positive note, the convenience of walking down to 5th St without having to drive is a real plus--parking is a real pain in the ass in the downtown area. Additionally, the ball park, Little Italy, Harbor Dr., Horton Plaza, etc. are all in walking distances. This may sound contradictory, but my only real issue with The Heritage is personal parking. There is available underground parking, but only one spot for a 1 bedroom apt--undesirable for couples living together in a 1 bedroom. Discounted residential street parking is available, but fill up quickly after 4pm'ish. Parking can especially be horrible after 6pm when parking is free. Can't really complain though, because as mentioned parking anywhere in the downtown area is a real pain in the ass. To end on a high note, one of the best conveniences is that each apartment comes with a washer & dryer.
