I lived at The Heritage for one year. When I first toured the property, I really loved it (judging from the showroom). However, I was disappointed when I moved in. The showroom has Burber carpet and the actual units have normal, tired carpet. Also upon move-in, we had gaps in the shelves that had been covered with masking tape (weird). We did have problems with cockroaches during the summer (2 huge roaches were in the kitchen). The problem, however, was resolved quickly by management and we did not see any further intruders.
The landscaping is very nice....upkeep is good. We had a beautiful courtyard with a hot tub just outside our door. The main annoyance here was the construction of the highrise on 9th St. The noise was miserable, especially as I work nights and need to sleep in the day. I had to function on very little sleep (although I moved in knowing about the construction, so it can't be blamed on anyone). The neighborhood is dicey. There are vagrants all around and my roommate had his car stolen from right in front of our unit.
The staff at The Heritage are okay. They don't go out of their way to assist residents, but are friendly and do the job.
I have since moved to San Francisco to a much nicer high-rise. I wouldn't recommend The Heritage, although it wasn't awful. There are nicer places in the downtown San Diego for the same price.
