My wife and I visited from Delaware and we agreed, after a long process of elimination, that this place was pretty good for us. BOY WERE WE WRONG! We put in all the paperwork to get the lease going from Delaware and drove our cars full of everything we wanted to keep to California. After 5 days of continuous driving, were were very excited to get to our new California apartment! Needless to say, were were severely underwhelmed. We did our walk through and noticed that the model they showed us was A LOT nicer and cleaner than the one we moved into. We also noticed the dead roaches scattered throughout the place which when we asked about the problem we were presented a nice "welcome to California". They said that the weather was perfect for roaches to thrive and that anywhere you go in CA will have at least a few. Hmmm. Against our better judgment, we signed and began to unload one car full of stuff. It was my wifes car with all her little bags and shoes and whatnot. There is not A/C so we had the windows open which face the courtyard, in which a woman was letting her puppy (about 40 lbs already) poop all over the courtyard, and she didn't clean up one turd! The smell was unbearable! This dog was a friggin champion shitter. It took like 4 dumps in a day and the girl didn't clean a damned one of em up. So we went to walmart and got this entertainment center and some chairs. While I'm putting it together it starts to get dark and my wife is putting the kitchen together. In the time it took to go to walmart and come back, ALL HELL BROKE LOOSE in that place! There were roaches literally coming form the woodwork. Those things were bold also. I was sitting in the living room putting this stand together and they were running from the walls directly at me. WE WENT THROUGH 2 CANS OF RAID IN A NIGHT! This is not an exageration. One jumped out of the drawer at my wife while shes putting in silverware. JUMPED AT HER! They just kept coming. I realized that I could not spend 1 night in this place when I discovered on sitting on our bed (blowup mattress)right where the pillow would be. So we left and headed to a motel. We told the manager about our experience the next day and they offered to exterminate for us, but I held the belief that one would need to destroy the building and kick out all the other tenants (girl with dog) in order to make the place livable. I have never seen roaches like this before. they were aggressive and fearless. They weren't going to let us rescind our lease at first, but I knew that we had 3 days to do so, so I did so. They were rude and uncooperative. We stayed at a hotel for 3 days while looking for a new place because of them and they didn't pay for it, AND CHARGED US RENT WHILE OUR STUFF WAS IN THERE, which we couldn't move because it needed to be reloaded in my wifes car, which we needed to look for a new place. what a pain in my ------- it was to clean each piece of stuff that needed to go back into the car. I would pour out a bag of my wifes stuff and roached would fall out with the shoes or books. So each shoe had to be wiped clean (to prevent eggs or whatever) to ensure that we didn't transport anything to our new place, which ended up being an Archstone community. We have been with Archstone ever since and couldn't be happier. Hillside gardens is like a garden in that it has fertilizer (----) and bugs (roaches) just like a real garden. Also pieces of ---- in the office! haha. SEk1KnECheF1ATXbXtrZ

| First, I will be asking the site to edit this rating you wrote because of the unnecessary disgusting language that is being used. For validity, names should be required so that management can tell if you were or ever applied for an apartment with Hillside and why you would get on a site and state that you noticed scattered roaches throughout the place before you ever signed a lease and yet you supposably signed after stating that you were told that the weather is perfect for roaches to thrive and that is anywhere you go in California. Ive been in the business 15 years and would never say such a thing to anyone, this is a lie and I would appreciate you stating the facts. We have a staff that is very professional, hardworking, and will go out of their way and beyond to help any residents and do not deserve to be degraded like this. We have a professional exterminater that keeps our grounds and apartments treated weekly to avoid these types of problems. We have other residents that have been on these sites and read reviews that are so overly exaggerated and gave us a try, and have been very happy and they have resigned new leases with us. Thank You Hillside Gardens Manager. | |

Haha, you finally bare your faces here under a non-anonymous account posting fake reviews. Please feel free to go comment on my review, "Where Do I Begin." Wait, you already did! But then you removed your anonymous response because you couldn't handle my response to you. Please, I beg of you, respond to my review and tell me I'm lying and not stating facts. Please tell me what really happened since you weren't there to share the joys with me. Please Hillside Gardens Manager, cast your illuminating grace upon the lowly me and guide me out of my false horrible experience that I made up in my mind and lied to the world about on here. HILLSIDE GARDENS MANAGER, which one of you is it, I don't remember your names but please be the little Texan. Please judge me!!!!!!!!!!

Manager,
My name is Richard Wilson and I rented (for 2 days) in late august of 05. I did rescind my lease and I did spend 2 extra nights in a hotel because of you people. How can you look at yourselves in the mirror everyday knowing how you lie to people? Just admit to yourself and everyone else on this forum that you people SUCK AT YOUR JOBS!! There's no shame in being bad at something, but get out of the housing industry if you wish to repent and somehow salvage your careers. My wife and I looked at the model (which a tall blonde chick with a lazy eye from Texas showed us) and were very excited after seeing it. We moved all of our belongings from Delaware to be greeted by a -------- apartment and -------- people/neighbors. That little smartass --- guy that worked there was a peach also. You people were very rude to me and unapologetic for the stress and hardship that you were directly responsible for.

Hello Hillside Gardens! I am Richard Wilson's wife- Jen...the one that was attacked by all of the roaches. You guys are a joke! Your little Texan friend tried to refuse to let me do a walk through before signing my lease. If you were actually in the housing business for 15 years, you would know that this is standard protocol. Maybe your slummy ass likes to live with roaches as pets, but some people have standards of living. You should be shut down by the board of health. I have pictures of a pile of roaches that we exterminated, that is about ankle deep. You should know because we sent you a copy of one of the pictures; maybe you can put that picture on your website. Maybe you should attempt to be a human being and remedy problems in the future. Otherwise, I can assure you that you will most likely rot in hell...which for you would be losing your precious job and being forced to live in the slum you have created. I have made it my life's work to tell everyone that I know, what a piece of infectious human waste you are. Being that I am an administrator and have a staff of 250 employees, who all have families and friends, the word has gotten around pretty nicely....so I feel a shard of resolution at this point. Enjoy the reading, as I can see that posts are updated regularly. Love Always, Jen Wilson
