I moved in a few years back because the rent was $1k/month, which is cheap for the area, now they are around $1300. The apartments aren't anything special but you do get a balcony and a washer/dryer in the unit which is nice if you don't like running around doing your laundry. The balcony is great because you can grill in the nice SAN weather. I wouldn't call this place luxury though, they seem to like to say it is. Rent is now getting up to the level where you might be able to find better deals out there. The front office people change often but I don't much care so... I have never seen anyone use the pool, and I don't know why anyone would...the beach' La Jolla is kinda sleepy (for all you party kids out there try the pacific beach community) but the location is pretty good, Westfield Mall is across the street, Trophys (sports bar), and UCSD is near. Its fine for the money. Its probably not the best for "high maintenance renters" as management seems to be of the "don't bother us and we won't bother you" mentality. I only once couldn't find parking, because people were figuring out that management wasn't checking for cars being parked for months without being moved, but they are now registering cars; still not a problem as long as you move your cars once in a while. Overall, if you don't want to spend $1500 this place is fine, get into the newer building (white) and get a second floor place (privacy) so you can leave your balcony doors open and enjoy the nice weather. Also, if you have a cat, just keep it to yourself and avoid the pet deposits and hassle.
