Poor value

Years at this apartment: 2001 - 2008
I lived here for seven years and had mixed experiences at La Terraza:
1. I moved from Irvine and didn't see my apartment until the day I arrived with a loaded furniture van. Unfortunately, the model misrepresented my apartment (the carpet wasn't dirty and threadbare in the model and the bath didn't have an eight inch split in it). In a word I would describe the apartment as "scruffy".
2. For the first few years rent increases were minimal until La Terraza was purchased for condo conversion. Ever since then rates have been cranking up at above inflation and this year they are running at a wallet trouncing 8%!
3. All residents of La Terraza were under a compulsory police evacuation order for four days during last October's Witch fire. The management didn't allow even a one cent reduction in October's rent for the displaced residents.
4. A bunch of new apartments have gone up recently (these are in addition to those that burnt but probably paid for with the same insurance money). The buildings in La Terraza were already crammed in - now with the new apartments this is even worse and they want an unbelievable $1450 pcm for the 1 bedroom!
5. There seems to be a persistent level of low level crime and vandalism in the area. This gives La Terraza an unpleasant atmosphere.
In conclusion, La Terraza is a mediocre apartment complex gone bad. If you are in the market for an apartment please look around as you can do much better than La Terraza in a safer neighborhood and at a lower price.
