Wishy-washy

Years at this apartment: 2003 - 2004
I've lived there only since Sept. of last year but after reading these reviews I agree and I don't agree. I've lived in much nicer places and I've lived in much worse places.
Likes:
Being able to get a garage
Crown molding
Large balcony (some are small but ours is large)
Washer/Dryer INSIDE the apartment!!
Lots of storage & cabs - be a little creative and it works out well. Also, I've learned not to be such a pack rat.
Fairly quiet - had super noisy neighboors downstairs playing loud music all the time but they got evicted (mind you I did complain about them 3 seperate times and I don't think that has anything to do with them being evicted.) The noise from the freeway (my bedroom faces it) isn't really bad, unless like everyone else says you go outside or open a window. Do not try to watch TV with the window open - or talk on the phone. But I knew that moving in so I can't ----- about it.
They allow pets - Yes, you pay pet rent and you have to put down a ton for having a declawed/spayed old cat but the chances are good you will get it back.
Location - it's close to SO much, you can just walk to shopping, movie theater, eating out. Plus it's right there next to the college (which I attend) so no need to buy a parking permit for the school.
Don't Like:
Un-helpful staff - they NEVER answer the phone and seem to be hardly in the office. I thought they were rude even before we rented there.
Things are broken all the time, the jacuzzi isn't kept up, frequently they turn the heat off completely or just don't clean it out. The grills they provide are broken, only 2 out of the 8 available had ignitor buttons.
Security - non existant. They are switching currently so I don't know how it will be soon but since I have lived there the security team seemed rather poor.
Parking - Good god I have to agree with everyone. Parking sucks there. We pay the extra $25 a month because we have tandem parking (garage and space in front of it)but they offer NO guest parking (and with a complex that big they really should - lugging someone's bags from the street parking (which is dismal) to my apartment is not fun). I've actually considered buying a permit from the college so my guests could park in the lot right across from my apartments when school is in session. Also, if you do hide the guest in your garage and then need to park your car elsewhere finding one of non-assigned but resident only spots is laughable.
--------------------------------------
Overall I have no problem living there, like I said I've lived in a really dumpy apt. and also I've lived in a few really nice ones. This is average and while the rent is extremely expensive that's really about par for the course in San Diego. It isn't perfect but it is better than many of the choices in Mira Mesa.
