I've lived here since 1998 and my roommate is moving out, so I'm looking for a new apartment. I came across this website, decided to search for Loma Palisades, and now I'm writing this review.

The parking is a big problem. First of all, I didn't realize what a hassle tandem parking is until I experienced it. It's a huge hassle to bug your roommate to move their car if they are blocking you, and vice versa. This of course isn't specific to LP, but in general. As for the street parking around LP, it is sparse. Expect your friends and visitors to have a fair amount of difficulty parking, and then a short walk to your apartment. If they decide to park in the wrong space, it is a virtual certainty they will be towed. It seems LP has a very cozy relationship with Western Towing. If I could rate their parking as 1.5, I would, since it is poor but I imagine it could be worse elsewhere.

The noise level of the tenants is acceptable. Most of the tenants in my experience have been respectful. There will be the occasional party that may keep you up a few nights, but it's not a chronic problem. The main reason why I rate it a 2 is due to the frequent barrage of jet noise. It's affected television and internet viewing, and conversations over the telephone, and with neighbors.

The grounds are nice, and fairly well kept. The pool and laundry facilities are clean. My apartment was at the base of a valley, and the view of the hill was pretty. I would give it a 3.5 if possible.

The safety is average. In terms of crime, there have been some problems with car break-ins, but nothing serious that I'm aware of. I've never felt threatened here. In terms of the safety of the grounds, the stairwells can be extremely slippery when wet (as I've skinned my knee fairly badly on them), and in some places the lighting is insufficient, but overall not a problem except perhaps for the elderly or small children.

The construction is fairly old, apparently this used to be military housing. There is a serious termite problem which manifests itself once a year. One day I woke up covered in termites, it was not a pleasurable experience. If you're squeamish about bugs, it's something to consider. When I moved in there was a paucity of grounded outlets. I presume under their current renovation project they will hopefully be installing grounded outlets, but you should check, I only have one in the living room, where the computer is, and there is one or two upstairs.

The maintenance is average. They said they would repaint/refinish the bathroom, but never did. After replacing the kitchen faucet, hot water is obtained by moving the valve to the right, instead of left. On the other hand, the maintenance staff are very friendly and they respond very quickly to issues.

I found the office staff to be friendly and respectful. My only issue was with the laundry smart cards. I had a smart card with roughly a $10 balance, and the card simply stopped working. When I requested a credit for the balance, they refused, citing that I couldn't prove what the balance was since the card was unreadable. Not a big deal, but it offended me as a matter of principle. Their laundry system requires the use of these cards, and I suspect they make a steady stream of revenue from discarded balances of failed smartcards.

Overall, you could certainly do much worse than living at Loma Palisades. But between the parking situation and the noise from the airport I cannot in good faith recommend them.

Welcome to life in the Big City. Perhaps Kansas might be a enjoyable place for you. Think about it, airplane noise, it's not like management can contact the airlines and make a complaint about jumbo jets flying over their property.

We moved out in august of 2004. We had finally had it with the regrigerator breaking down, the downstairs bathroom sink falling off the wall, the upstairs bathroom window wouldn't open, and the tub constantly leaked. When they inspected everything they decided they all needed to be replaced. They had just started re-modelling the units and decided to kick us out so they could simply re-model our unit and charge more rent! Then they had the nerve to charge us for cleaning and carpet replacement when they were going to have to do all that anyways for the re-modelling! In addition - they only gave us 30 days and we found a place in 2 weeks and they made us pay for the whole 30 days! And YES the parking was horrendous! We had a 2 bedroom townhouse with 3 of us and two cars and were only assigned ONE parking space! HORRIBLE! I would never recommend them!
