Horrible Complex, Don't Be Fooled By the Price

So yes I'll admit living in Loma Palisades is very cheap compared to many other areas, we are currently renting a 2 story townhouse with 2 bedrooms and 1.5 bathrooms for $1310 in Point Loma...less than 1 mile from the beach...but after a year of living there I am more than eager to get the heck out of there and we're renting a 2 story townhouse with 2 beds/2 baths further out from the beach for $1600/month. Even though I haven't visited my new place, I can guarantee that it's over 100 times better.
First the management at Loma Palisades are the most inefficient, fake, rude, condescending, and irresponsible personnel that I've ever had (and I've lived in 3 different complexes). The staff are friendly however don't take their word for anything. The fact still is that Loma Palisades is a big corporation (the biggest apartment complex corporation in San Diego I think) and therefore they are a lot more experienced at knowing what they can get away with. When my roommate and I first put down the deposit to hold the townhouse, we were informed that since we weren't there in person, our 'agent' would just fill in the length of lease for 12 months and that if we wanted we could change it later on. Yes i know never sign anything that you do not agree with but we figured this verbal agreement would suffice in the case that we wanted to change our term. Definitely not, what you sign is basically what you agree to unless you have a lot of money you are able to spend on litigation and then you might win with an unconscionablity defense (after thousands have been spent on legal fees).
In addition to the lack of credibility, the staff "forgot" to inform us that Loma Palisades is located DIRECTLY UNDER the airplane routes coming out of and going into San Diego International Airport. Basically every morning at 6am we were woken up and kept awake until 11:30pm on a daily basis. The sound is so horrendous that our townhouse was literally shaking...you wonder why Loma Palisades is so much cheaper than surrounding complexes.
Not only did they fail to tell us about the airplane routes, our townhouse was infested with cockroaches and termites from day 1. The management had the nerve to say that we brought in the roaches when we moved in since they can miraculously grow out of thin air as long as there are cardboard boxes. Unfortunately for the management, we had NO cardboard boxes and literally moved everything via luggage or they were newly purchased. Termites infested both bedrooms for 2 weeks before the management was willing to send in the exterminator. When I say infested, i mean they were literally all over both our beds, floors, and closets (yes our clothes). And again the management had the nerve to say that termites are harmless, they don't bite. Okay, we understand that, but who the hell wants to sleep with termites, have termites crawl over them while asleep, wear termites, step on termites, etc' They would not call in professional exterminators for both the roaches or termites until we threatened legal action since they were violation the Housing Regulations for habitability.
So if the roach, termite, airplane, and horrible management weren't enough, there was never a full week where something wasn't wrong with the townhouse where we had to call in maintenance (Though I will admit Maintenance were one of the friendliest and most helpful staff that I've ever had) whether it be our porch light broken (which for 2 girls who are in the library until midnight everyday is nto safe), refrigerator making funky noises, oven breaking, toilet and shower clogging, etc. While we still had to pay a security deposit and probably will have a large portion deducted, the townhouse obviously was not repaired and cleaned well prior to move in. It was clean enough facially (we did a walk through), but nobody checks the oven, shower, toilet, porch light, etc during the walk through...you just keep your eyes out for major things such as holes in the wall. The termites and roaches came out during the night time and conveniently the Management Office hours are from 9am-5pm.
All in All..horrible apartment, will never live there again, and if possible future lawsuit might be brought forth...
