Well, I moved out of LP about 5 months ago. I actually thought they werent bad at first, but then one by one things went wrong. Mostly with the managment. They SEEM really nice and accomodating at first...but thats how they get you. They then get the "thats your problem attitude". We had brand new carpet when we moved in which i thought was great. My huband and lived there for one year exactly. No kids, no pets..both worked 9 hr days 5-6 days a week, 365 days a year. When we decided to move out, we denied the "inspection" because we thought " Well, theres absolutely nothing wrong with it. It was spotless...carpet, walls etc." We got a letter in the mail that said we owe them $1100!!!! For new carpet!!!! Its so rediculous. We are still trying to fight this. You try to talk to the office about it, the manager....whoever will listen...they have the "its your problem attitude". Laugh in your face. All I know is I wish I had pictures. So take pictures if you still live there guys. AND get the inspection! I dropped off my keys and laundry card on the last day. I left one at my new house, and said Ill be right back to go get it. They said NO because they were going to be closing..I begged for them to stay for me or let me drop it off the next day. Nope.. Charged $25 just for not returning the laundry card. PARKING- after about 6:00pm...forget it. Your probably going to have to park at LONGS DRUGS. I walked so many times in the dark for 10-15 minutes because there were no parking spaces. Im 21 years old...its not that safe. Noise was OK...just a lot of airplanes flying over. Pool- closes too early for me. Never really got to swim in them. I had guests over for a week from Michigan...so I put sheets up in the window to keep the light out, the windows are huge and very bright. I got a letter on my door saying I had to take them down or I would have disiplinary action taken against me. Also, I decorated my front door with red lights and a heart on my door for valentines day. Got a letter to take that down too...it wasnt even valentines day yet! LISTEN-just dont live here. Its Just NOT worth it. I AM SERIOUS.

FYI, if you dispute the excess charges bring the issue to small claims because otherwise if you dont pay the management will stop correspondence with you and then send your name and alleged debt to a collections agency who then threatens to put it on your credit. Under CA law they cannot harass you to pay, if you ask them to stop they need to stop contacting you. But, if you dont pay within 30 days they will put it on your credit unless you get a court order/injunction. Good luck, when we moved in we had dirty, old carpet and when we moved out they recarpted the entire apartment...Loma Palisades seriously needs to be brought to court.

What are the legalities? At what point can they make you replace the entire carpeting (just a few stains)? Does anyone know what the renter's rights are on deposits/carpets?
