Un-Welcome Home from the Persian Gulf

I'm a 20 year Chief Petty Officer in the U.S. Navy and I returned home after a 7 month deployment from the Persian Gulf to find that Loma Palisades was not renewing our lease or allowing us to stay via a Not-so-friendly notice taped on our door. When I spoke with Kim Riesling the assistant manager, she informed me that "They don't have to explain why they won't renew the lease" and we didn't get an explanation. I re-read our contract and found it there but have never met anyone so unfriendly as to not discuss any solutions like her.

When we moved out my wife and I together were informed by their staff (mistakenly on their part... apparently) to have a pro-rated amount to them "when we moved out" and when we complied with it Ms. Riesling informed us the payment was late, added $75.00 more and stated "that her staff is too well trained to make such a mistake". Her conversation with me was frustrating, unfriendly and unprofessional. She and her staff brought my wife's temper to the boiling point and I had to revisit them to handle things PERSONALLY because she didn't wish to "put up with them".

After vacating and vacuuming the carpet we returned the keys to the front office and moved to our new home leaving a $700.00 deposit to handle any minor expenses they felt were necessary. Instead of getting most of our deposit back we received a letter and bill for over $430.00 more with a threat to report it to the credit agencies if not paid. Their expenses are OUTRAGEOUS AND OFFENSIVE! I paid them to keep it simple but will not quietly sit by and allow this

I can handle their: Poor parking, airplanes, parties, maintenance issues, poorly maintained pool, septic hot-tub, and closet sized exercise room BUT not such POOR SERVICE OR APPRECIATION FOR US. Their contract is full of contradictions and they use it to their advantage. I'll make it my business to share this with everyone I know and meet to show how expensive Kim Riesling and her staff are to their company and reputation.

Despite a 35% approval rating, that place will continue to thrive because of their false pretense of affordable living. Get 'um in, keep 'em quiet, and rip 'em off when they leave.
