M2I - Beware

I moved in about a month ago and have the unfortunate luck of living next door to some 20-somethings that like to place their "house" music at all hours.
The other reviews that mention sound traveling through walls is a fact.
I can hear my other neighbor clearly talking on the telephone.
From my experience, this place is crawling with young people out to take advantage of the downtown scene, i.e., party, party, party! Beware of M2I...

1. Fact - There are much fewer young people than families. 2. I'll bet 10 to 1 that you're living in a courtyard facing unit and while those do have problems the owner of your unit can contact Merit Property Management and request to have the walls rebuilt correctly, there was a sound transfer issue with a few of the units but the majority of them were fixed. 3. I party like a ------- rockstar at M2i and in downtown and I make it a point to talk to my neighbors - no complaints from them.

I have lived in M2i since Dec. 2006. My unit is facing Island Ave. The sound issue is really a problem, same with the 20 somethings that treat this place like a dorm.
The last person that responded just confirmed ALL of the complaints. FACT: the builders were cheap, and only built a 5/8" drywall between the units! So, the solution for poor quality construction is to inconvenience the current occupant for 2 weeks out of your place and have them fix the problem, and only if you complain! That's ridiculous! FYI we
were one of the people who had this done, and unless your neighbor is willing to have the same thing done to their walls then it's useless. I can still hear both neighbors on either side. I was deceived in to thinking that having this done will solve the sound problem.
By the way this is exactly the problem with this building, reinforced by the last responder. The disillusioned people who think that they are ROCKSTARS!

I just moved into a unit in M2i, an inner courtyard facing unit. I was generally pleased with my move and my new place. Nice layout, kitchen, bathrooms, etc. Everything was great, until I spent my first night in the place. The walls are paper thin! I was kept up most of the night by my neighbor snoring and coughing in the adjacent room. The fact that I can even hear someone snoring through the wall is completely ridiculous and unacceptable. This isn't a noisy rude neighbor, just someone's standard living noise. So it's not like I can go ask them to turn down their snoring. I'm really disappointed I just signed a year lease and have to deal with this. Especially at these rent prices.
