It is a shame that some people just don't understand apartment living and take out their frustrations on one of the nicer complexes in the area.

Is their complete silence 100% of the time' No.

Does managment bend knee to your every waking concern' No.

Are some neighbors nicer and more considerate than others' Yes.

However, none of these are anything more than occassional frustrations that come with life in any apartment complex and that is something that some people will never get used to.

I am not from the management. I am a resident who is sick of people whining about not always having things their way when they have to live in a society. I go to the gym almost every single night and every once in a while a machine will be broken for a day or two (never longer). It continually amazes me that people will walk in and frustratedly stomp around because one machine doesn't happen to be working today. The fact that they used it successfully for the last 6 weeks doesn't dawn on them, the fact that isn't working tonight is a sign that management doesn't care anyone and is out to get them.

Let's get down to the brass tax.

Parking: Any complaint about parking is ludicrous. There is plenty of parking in the complex. You may not always be able to get the space directly in front of your building and your guest may have to walk up to 1 block to get to your apartment. That is as bad as it gets. Period.

Management: Very friendly, very helpful. If you treat them with respect, they will bend over backwards for you. I've never had to make a noise complaint (or know anyone who has) so I can't say how they react to those complaints.

Rents: They go up every year, just like everywhere in this town. For what you get, the price is excellent. Torrey Villas "down the road" is very nice but FAR more expensive for a similar size unit.

College Students: I am not one, and I am bit surprised there are that many living here considering how far and inconvenient it is to UCSD (being on the other side of the merge would make it an annoying drive). Considering also that UTC is closer and cheaper than here, I find it a bit surprising (if not unbelievable) that "dormatories" are popping up.

This is probably one person's gross exaggeration.

It goes without saying you should check out the unit and the building if you can before you move in. Management took me to 3 different units before I chose the one I took (it is not true that they will only show you the model, they will show you ANY vacant unit if you ask).

Finally, if you want to know why there are so many reviews posted here, you need only look at the story as it unfolded (it is actually all posted within the reviews and on the accompanying message board).

A potential resident (whose name was Rob) checked out this site before moving in and saw a bunch of negative reviews. He then actually visited the complex and knocked on several doors (including mine) asking about the validity of the reviews and learned that they were false and misleading. He gave people the link to this website and a large number of the happier residents (most of them here) decided to voice our opinions as well.

The reason.

Some of us had been tormented by one ex-resident who used to complain about anything and everything. He would complain about what was in people's garages. He would complain about what people kept on their balcony's. He would complain about what he could see when walking past someone's window. He would complain if you talked on the phone. He would complain if you parked in "his" parking spot (it wasn't really his spot, it was an unmarked and unowned spot that he thought he owned because it was the closest one to his front door).

Once we hooked up wtih an attorney (also a resident) who helped us understand the law we were able to threaten to sue him for harassment and not only did the complaints stop, but he moved out shortly after.

In short, this is one of the nicest complexes in San Diego for people who know how to live in an apartment complex. There are great amenities and for the price, the units are spacious and have all you need (washer/dryer, appliances, etc.).
