... this is the place for you! One dog starts barking, a whole cacophony starts up. Personally, I think that having a larger dog (and there seem to be many that exceed the so-called breed restrictions) in an apartment is borderline animal cruelty, but these seem to be the quieter dogs vs. the yappy little puntable runts that make most of the noise.

I agree, but you should have looked into this place (i.e. a simple drive around during the weekend hours) and noticed that it is a pet friendly complex and the dog noises are usually understandable from the many other pet owners. I believe that you should not be locking your dog up on the porch to camp out all by itself. People do need to take responsibility for their own pets.

I more than agree. I regret calling Pinnacle a "kennel", when that isn't really the problem -- I knew it was a pet-friendly complex. I am completely aware that this is a community, and part of community-living is noise, so it's not noise from any neighbor that bothers me. (Besides, complaining about noise per se would be like complaining about the nearby freeways, morning blackbirds, or air traffic LOL) I guess what bothers me is that dogs braying at night probably mean that they are lonely, and as an animal-rights/lover type, I feel badly for the animals (not for the fact of the noise).

I agree with you regaridng leaving the dogs to sit on the balcony all day/night is sad. Some people are not meant to be dog owners especially the ones that refuse to clean up after them. As far as I know there were no weight restrictions on our dogs. We own one large dog and one medium/large dog and I think saying that having these types of dogs in an apartment is animal cruelty is ridiculous!! My dogs go for a 3 mile walk/run every morning along the bike path. Not to mention the dog park every other evening. How is that animal cruelty?
