So Far So Good!

I like living here so far. We had a couple hang-ups from the beginning. The carpets smelled pretty bad (big dog lived here before us) but the maintenance people here are very fast and have been great. I feel like the community managers are friendly and they seem to care about the tenants. I live in a 1/2 building, and there are only 2 of those on the property. I highly recommend trying to get into one of those buildings so your terrace doesn't look out into other units. That's also 50% less people opening garages and pulling out in the morning (making some noise).

My unit has an attached garage with a large storage room under the stairs. This is the newest building I've ever lived in so the crown molding, newer appliances, and bathroom built this century have been fantastic. I also like that my fireplace lights with the flick of a switch.

My neighbors have been quiet so far but that can always change since apartments have higher turnover than condos. The pool is heated and clean. The gym is well equipped and has freeweights. I really like the amenities here and I like having peace of mind that someone will take care of my concerns if something breaks down or if I have any other issues.

Seems like the bad reviews are coming from people who don't realize they're living in an apartment. You will hear people around you, there are a lot of people moving in and out. Sometimes you have to look for parking, but I haven't had to do that yet. But to make up for that your deposit is much lower than renting from a condo or house owner (usually same price as rent). Also, landlords tend to be slower at responding to maintenance needs.

To sum it up, there are the usual hangups with living in a pet-friendly community...but there are people who seem to care that can address your issues. It's a corporation so if you don't feel like you're being taken care of there's always someone higher up to write to (I'm not the type to do that though!). All the usual stuff that comes with sharing walls with neighbors will be here too (no magically quiet apartments with no sense of other people around you). The benefits are great pool/gym area, theatre, pool table, walking trails, and great location. I'm happy so far. :)
