Sounds like management got a hold of this website and wrote their own little story. Let me tell you why people complain. If you pay $2,000 a month you pay for the apartment it self, pool, work out room, maybe a computer room for some fancier places and some other apartments have barbeque areas for cooking and having a blast arounf the pool area with family and friends. Not to mention some places have theaters so you can invite your friends or just go in their and watch a movie or football or something. These are amenties people pay for it is ALL in a package the leasing agents sell you on. Here is an example of what some properties might say and you've heard this one before I'm sure, We are minutes away from shopping malls and 1 mile to the nearest freeways, blah blah blah, it goes on and on. So they sell you on look at us we have this amenity and can you see the value in this my future resident. I am sure you and your family will enjoy our facilities for many years to come. Not once did they mention...once you are in is when the reality of life set in. You hear the mexican's working their asses off at 7 frickin in the morning cutting concrete and the heavy machinery making noises thruour the day. Have you seen construction on the freeway' Well it's no different here folks. They have the cement trucks all the time poring concrete which they put into reverse makes a lovely sound thru out the neighborhood. Oh that's right the leasing agent mentioned that I will be annoyed with minor noises thruout the whole damn year. NOT!!!! We pay big money people. Do you think Donald Trump would open up a new property without completely finishing it' WELL THINK AGAIN! Would the Bellagio Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas open it's doors if they needed to lay down more cement in the front or the side of the building or the new WYNN Casino in Vegas do construction while the guest are sleeping at 7am. Go to Vegas and see for your self the WYNN Hotel and Casino does not open until April 28th. See how they do business. What I am getting at is NO ONE told us about construction. Hey we figured the buildings are up the lights work and they say they have everything completed that means hey these people mean business they are done and we are the first ones to live in these apartments. I for one am not complaing about how long it took for the pool to open or the computer room to be built and the internet be hooked up. See many amenities that people pay for were not ready and no compensation was giving. Let's face it this is nothing but a business. They open the door soon as they can cause these gerbel cages will not make them money sitting empty collecting dust. Oh which reminds me have you checked the dust on your television sets lately. The dust from the construction is all over the inside of my apartment and my car is full of construction dust. Yes I should just overlook all these things and just pay out the ying-yang just so I live on Friars Rd. I will tell all my friends that not only do we all pay about $2,000 or more but the rent is going up and the dust, noise, no assigned parking after 1 year of being open, you pay for the water, gas, electric, the sewage, trash and anything else I missed that the property does not want to pay for and your rent really comes out to a whopping $2,200. Maybe I will sign a new lease again when the time comes. I am so excited about the walkway. It should be done in about 1 more month, I mean 1 more year. Hey just quickly, if I bought a new house would they still be constructing it a year after I moved in''' Just curious..... SEk1KnECheF1ATXbXtrZ

I wanted to respond to your last question. Yes, if you bought new construction, they would still be working on the site a year, if not more, after you move in. While my unit in Escala was ready May 2004 and we moved in at that time, the building next to us was not complete and we heard workers talking to one another all week long as early as 7, and on the weekends! Almost a year later, they had us relocate our cars several times in order to patch the paving and seal the asphalt. They have even instituted strict parking rules that makes it difficult to have guests over and for residents who need to park on the street. While all this is all a nuisance, I knew when we bought that the project was not complete. I accepted that and have put up with the inconveniences. I would recommend that the next time you rent, rent at an older project and not a new project. With all new construction, it takes time to work out the kinks and fix things that weren't done quite right the first time. That happens all the time and that is the nature of the construction business! I think it is commendable that Portofino is taking the time to have the Contractor go back and fix things that might not have been done right the first time.
