Beware. You have to endure unprofessional, rude management who will lie to you as quick as you blink. We've had more problems with the brainless robots walking around in the leasing office than all the other apartments we've ever been at combined.
Many tenants claim that you won't ever be able to park your car with the security of knowing it will be there when you leave. I have had my car towed once, but for others it appears to be more frequent. If, however, you like your friends and want to keep them don't EVER make them come here. You will have to check out a "guest permit" that will require you to leave a $50 deposit. The deposit is not a big deal except when they cash your check in the 24 hours they give you the permit for because they couldn't figure out what it was for.
Repairs are usually just band-aid jobs and they only "service" you on their schedule. I hope you like a little light reading because about twice a week you will come home to a nice little "memo"; which is really their way of saying we ****ed up, but we're going to find a way to inconvience you and say it's all just to make the community better. If you like watching the same TV shows as your neighbor you're in luck, it will be in surround sound. However, if you like sleeping at any reasonable hour you will have to learn to fall asleep to the thumping of base. It's kind of like a routine, get in bed, close eyes, get headache, eventually fall asleep; but alas, then you get to wake up to the same thumping beat you fell asleep to. Also, I hope you like listening to people walk in and out, not to mention opening and closing their garages at all hours of the night. And just pray you don't live below people who have idiots for visitors. They will come banging on your door at 11:30 pm all dressed up in their club attire. Only to leave without saying anything when you tell them they've got the wrong apartment.
Also, if you ever have an emergency don't have it when you're living here and need emergency services. I called the office to ask them to open the gates for the ambulance and good old Joe told me that's not possible, but when the paramedics get here they can call the office and they'd gladly open the gate for them at that time. Speaking of gates, they will only work when you don't want them too. The rest of the time they are open for months on end, that's just as well, they don't do much good anyway.
These are just a few of the issues we've had here. If you like walking around and seeing people with whom the only thing you have in common is how much you hate the apartment complex come live here. If you want to live without the stress of worthless management and the host of other problems they offer at Portofino then you can certainly find some better place to call home.

Dear Valued Residents and Perspective Residents,
Portofino was built on a 16.5-acre parcel owned by H.G. Fenton Company and developed on behalf of our company by Archsone Communities. In addition, we partnered with Archstone to manage and oversee the day-to-day operations of the community.
As of Thursday 03/16/2006, we are very proud to announce that H.G. Fenton Company assumed management of this highly regarded Mission Valley community. Portofino is now the 11th San Diego County multifamily community to join the H.G. Fenton Company portfolio. With its addition, H.G. Fenton Company now owns and manages 2,800 apartment units throughout the county as part of its continuing mission to provide quality places for people to live.
Founded in 1906, H.G. Fenton Company is one of San Diego’s oldest and largest real estate companies. We are committed to being responsive and attentive to your needs and provide you with quality service.
This letter is a brief introduction of me as the new Community Director and your new staff, at the beautiful Portofino apartment homes. As representatives of H.G.Fenton company and team, my staff and I are very excited to become part of this wonderful community. Home is very important to us; therefore, our team will do everything we can to make your home and your community as comfortable as possible. Your comments and input are very important to us, therefore, we’d love to meet with you to discuss any questions you may have as well as concerns.
Accordingly, as a first step in our familiarization process, we would love to meet with you personally. We understand that it will be a transition process for you over the next few months, therefore, would like to hear your comments, which will in turn enable your staff to provide the excellent service you deserve. The most important thing to me and the Portofino staff is your satisfaction with your home. We value your opinion and invite your suggestions to make it an even better home for you and your neighbors!
In addition to many great changes that you will see happen within the near future such as weekly continental breakfasts and monthly resident functions, we will be organizing a “Meet and Greet Hour” once per week as we extend our office hours to hear your comments and suggestions. We will provide you with more details and a personal invitation shortly.
Furthermore, we will be updating you monthly of any changes and different activities that are in the planning process. There are great things to come and I am very excited to be a part of this wonderful community! And of course, please do not hesitate to stop by and just say “hello”. We would love to hear from you anytime!
For additional community information and features, please visit our NEW website at www.PortofinoAptHomes.com. We look forward to hearing from you soon!
