Years at this apartment:

First a few disclaimers. This is only the second apartment complex I have lived in since moving to San Diego so my experience is limited in reviewing San Diego apartments overall. In addition, I have only lived at this complex for about 5 months so things may change down the road.
After reading some of the comments on this website I felt the need to offer my own impressions. For two years I lived at La Mirage, which is about 5 miles from this complex. I was miserable at that complex. It was loud, parking was non-existent, the apartments were small, amenities were crowded, maintenance was terrible and there was a major mold problem (in the older buildings). As a graduate student who has a major state test coming up, I knew I had to move.
After reading the reviews on this page I was skeptical of the quality of apartments here, but because of the convenience and rent discount my fiance and I received, I signed a lease. There were a few glitches when we first moved in as to the move in date. This was caused mostly by mis-communication by myself and the property manager. I do believe he could have handled it in a more professional manner, but I still signed the lease due to the limited amount of time I had to find a new apartment.
For the most part I am glad I did sign the lease. I live on the second floor in a two bedroom apartment. There are almost no noise problems, other than hearing the elevator once in awhile. However, we keep the windows open at all times. I think I heard a party once, but it was on Halloween, and it ended at a reasonable hour. The one time I had to use maintenance they were quick and efficient. Parking is wonderful (at least compared to La Mirage)!! The electronic card we have to open the gates can be a pain, but the trade offs in having a gated complex win out. Plus, if you ever forget your card, you can always rent one out from Residential Services. I like the fact that tow trucks constantly patrol the parking areas because there are a number of people who break the rules. As to the bug issue, I have never even seen 1 ant in my apartment. At La Mirage my apartment was constantly invaded my ants.
I think I have addressed the subjects of most of the complaints on this site. Any apartment complex will have noise. As a person who has lived in an apartment for 7 years now, this is hands down the quietest complex I have ever lived in. Management can be snobby at times, but they are like saints compared to those who work at La Mirage. Overall this is an expensive complex, but for the most part you get what you pay for (considering the rent here is similar to about every complex in the San Diego area).
