We've had a mixed but overall good experience at the Promenade.
The good:
-Beautiful apartments. Very well designed; high quality everything; efficient space.
-Wonderful amenities. Everything is kept in perfect working order.
-The grounds are very well landscaped and maintained.
-Trolley station.
-The maintenance people are very nice an work their tails off.
-Cafe with free wi-fi
The not-so-good:
-Air quality. In Mission Valley surrounded by freeways and big roads. Grill smoke and laundry exhaust in the courtyards and hallways.
-Suburban feel.
-No grocery store anywhere convenient.
-Many tenants are east county types who drive big pickup trucks, drink beer in the pool and have an "I own the world" attitude. They leave their trash in the trash room and expect the "maids" to put it down the chute for them.
-Not walkable. No suitable place to go for a walk or run outside.
-The apartments run very warm in the summer. Difficult to cross-ventilate and cool.
-My car was broken into twice in the parking garage.

Wow, I'm so confused, and even kind of scared. I think the apartments looked really nice and I was very interested in renting here, but after reading the reviews, I don't know anymore. What I'm concerned with is the noise. I keep reading about all the college students. I don't think I can handle that. I'm just completely confused, I was ready to move.

I just moved in and am weary because i never bothered checking to see the apt ratings on the promenade... we live RIGHT next to the trolley station and it seems pretty well built considering you can hardly hear the trolley pass by (unless you're really listening for it)... guess we'll just have to wait n see how things pan out. *nervous*

The loudness just depends upon which building you live in and can be the difference between day and night. We live in Building #1 and its rare when we have a noise complaint. Living here for over 4 years should say enough. We both work from home and love the quiteness, except of course the courtyard fountain that can be heard when are windows are open.

I lived in a house built in 1879 in VT, and in a bad neighborhood. I never worried about my safety or my property as much as I did living at the Promenade. My car was broken into underground, I was robbed, and while talking to rent-a-cops to report my break in they told me about a girl getting raped on the grounds by the river. and PS did you miss the PD helicopters chasing fugitives along the river property. yea, it makes me feel really warm and fuzzy inside. I would never recommend this apartment complex to my worst enemy!!!!

WOW, I am totally SHOCKED! I wish I had a good experience here but I have to say, DON'T LIVE HERE! I have had an absolute horrible time. I don't know how these people never had anything happen but I can say IT IS NOT WORTH the money! The staff is generally not concerned and will only take care of things that are legally their responsibility. They will TOW your car in an instant! I caught them towing my car and it had a permit. The tow truck driver was just an idiot! Must be a money scam game! Anyway, you can do WITHOUT the hassles here! Trust me.... I am not lying, just spreading my experience. RENTER BEWARE!

I live in Building 4, have been here for 2 weeks, it's been very quiet and secure up until now. Someone moved into the apartment above us yesterday and moved furniture and banged around until 1am and we could hear their voices and one of them must be big as we could hear their foot steps. Most of the time quiet except from airconditioning units out on people's balconies - do you really need your units on all night? Place is kept clean and gardens well cared for. Pool loungers could do with updating as look old and dirty and pool could be warmer.

I am signing my lease tommorrow to move into building #4, 2 bedroom w/ a loft....i am really nervous reading all of these reviews and even thought about canceling my tour today, but i went ahead with it..the apartment seems beatiful..new carpet and paint..i am very, very nervous about any future problems and hope that none arise...my deposit is only 375.00 and thats not too bad...i do drive a higher profile vehicle and pray that it doesnt get broken into or stolen in the underground garage :( I spoke to the manager about all these reviews i read and she lives there as well..she agreed that when she first moved in, it was pretty loud, but she said that within the last 6 months, they have a new security co. and some new procedures...i only have a tenant on one side of me and one on top..hopefully it wont be too bad...i will review again in a few weeks.. (scared)

We have lived here for 8 months. It is true about the college kids and it is very loud in the courtyard over here in bldg 6. We are on the second floor and the tenants above us sound like they are sumo wrestling half the time, or dropping bowling balls on our ceiling(who knows) The BBQ smoke from other patios is true as well. I like it hear overall, but wish there were less college kids.

So true, Resident Services could care less about you as a resident. Theyre snobby and generaly unconcerned with anything you might need help with.

I have heard the noise level really depends on what building you are living in. We live in Building 1 which has NO noise. I hear some of the other buildings have lots of students, which seems odd for a luxury apartment complex. However, I would have to complain about air pollution. There simply is no way to get fresh air into the apartment if you live in the courtyard or on the street side of the building (esp. Qualcomm Way). Who was the genius who decided to place all the laundry exhaust vents directly outside everyone's windows and sliding doors? If you open a door or window, you get detergents blowing into your apartment all day. |
