Poor Service, Poor Quality

Years at this apartment: 2005 - 2006

The first week we moved in we found the following problems which should have been found by management or maintenance had they actually walked the apartment. Maintenance did fix most of them when we called them in.

1.Our garbage disposal would not turn on.
2.Our washing machine would not drain. We had to call twice on this as we were told the first time that there was nothing wrong with it.
3.Our dryer would neither heat up nor not stop turning.
4.The light in the laundry room would not turn on.
5.The handle on our shower fell off.
6.Overall, the apartment was dirty (window blinds, stained counters, stained carpet, moldy, disintegrating caulking in the shower).

Shortly after moving in, the faucet of one of our sinks started leaking. We requested that it be repaired, but were told that maintenance would not fix it because it required turning off the water.

During our stay, a man (possibly another resident) crashed his car into the kitchen of our first floor apartment. This accident left an opening in our kitchen wall, damaged our cabinetry and our oven. Of course this incident was beyond control of management. However, when we requested that our dented oven be replaced, we were told that it was fine. In actuality, the oven did not heat properly after that event.

And finally, upon moving out we cleaned our apartment and left it in better condition than when we had moved in, yet Ridgewood Apartments charged us roughly $150 from our deposit. I find it absurd that they would rent us a dirty apartment with appliances that did not work, not fix two items that we were paying for with our rent, and then charge us after we leave their apartment looking better than when they rented it to us.

I've rented many apartments, and lived in some scary places in San Francisco, but I have never complained or written a bad review. However, this experience was very disappointing considering the money spent in rent.

And yes, there is a huge ant (and rat) problem.

And, did anyone else find have a problem with strange guys (possibly salesmen) knocking on your doors' My girlfriend had several experiences of weirdos knocking on the door and calling to her through the door.
