I moved into Torrey Pines earlier this year. Problems stated from the first minute. My removals truck needed to offload my garage items first. The remote would not open the garage. The removals truck was costing $120 per hr while the staff remedied the situation. Then when in the apartment it was not fully cleaned, the carpets were still stained, kitchen full of wood chippings and dirt from the service guys and more...Then the remote would not open the front gate. This took five trips to the office to remedy. On the last trip I was just mad as hell..

Next issue. NO PARKING. They tell me I have two spaces (one garage and one parking), but the parking is not assigned. I cannot park within 300 yards at anytime and sometimes there is not any parking' So when you go to the grocery store, park in the fire lane carry all the bags up two flights of stairs, walk back down drive 300 yds and park the car. Gets old real quick. Also the spaces are so small I cannot get out of my car.

Construction construction...they are digging up the pool area, I have no clue why. The pool area was nice before. They just seem intent in changing things just for the sake of it. Maybe to justify the higher rent. Very strange. I complained of the time I have been inconvenienced, first off no action. Then a reply to say they needed two more weeks to consider the issue. A month to reply!! Hmmm. In the meantime (i.e. day after I complained), my renewal letter came. Was this a coincidence or retrubution. A renewal letter two and one half months before the expiration of my contract. A 20% increase in RENT, is this legal'. Then they wanted $200 extra to go month to month except they cannot add up $2170 200 = 2505''' wow really worried now. This gets real bothersome Jamie.

This would not be so bad except when I moved in I made it very plain that if they intend to jack up my rent at the first renewal more then anything above inflation I was not interested. Of cource the reply was don't worry Dave they will only increase by a small percentage. Well after a 9 month term they increased my rent by 20%. Guess they lied. Not good, not equitable. Not sure I want to bother arguing with them anymore, obviously they feel the market is just so hot for rentals and they don't need my business. They hire good looking girls to impress us, all I want is a genuine person to tell me the truth and follow thru on what I am paying for. Not the case here...Rent at your own risk..

Totally agree. They told me two months before my renewal that the rent would only be increased by 5 percent but they lied. surprise surprise. My rent went up more than 100 dollars a month and they wanted to charge me 35 dollars more a month to change the carpet. The carpet was so discussing when we moved in. We have had so many problems at this apartment complex. Would suggest to move somewhere else unless you like to complain constantly.
