Not worth the money

Since I moved in here, I've had too many issues to deal with.
First, there is no air conditioning, which is desirable during the summer.
The apartment we live in is right above the parking garage, so you can hear the noise every time the gate opens.
The gate keeps screwing up and remaining open overnight, which makes me think that it's not as safe as one would think with a gated complex.
The parking is absolutely horrible, the architects really screwed up with parking.
There isn't enough guest parking.
I once even had my car towed because it went beyong a line since the parking spot was so small!!! (I even scratched two cars trying to remain within my limits).
The amenities are okay, there is a nice pool but a small gym for the price we're paying per month.
In order to throw away your trash, you have to walk a long way and then make your way down the stairs 3 levels in order to throw it away, as there are no trash chutes.
I can go on and on.
My suggestion is to live elsewhere, as there are cheaper rentals with much nicer amenities in the area.
If you are on a budget, rent further away from campus.
The convenience of living near campus is minimal, as it's far enough away that I still have to take the bus.
And again...parking sucks.

I have temped/worked for various properties in this area and thought I'd share a response from an unbiased perspective. 1. The no a/c thing is pretty standard in this area. Most of the properties do not have them. 2. I'm not sure if the person who wrote this is used to having their trash taken out for them. Most apartments don't offer that service. In fact I'm pretty confident that none do that. There are elevators in various locations so this individual took a route that included the stairs. 3. The parking area gate is fixed and functioning very well at this point. HOWEVER occassionally the gates need maintenance. This is NORMAL at all apartments that are gated communities. 3. Regarding Price I'd say check around. The rates here are below market for this location in comparison to other properties. 4. Parking may have been a concern for this person but while temping here I did not receive any calls from residence with parking issues. If you want to see some REAL parking concerns check at a few of these other apartments that have NO guest parking and the spaces were designed prior to SUV's being so popular. This property's parking situation is a lot better than most in La Jolla/UTC. |
