I cannot wait to move out of this crappy apartment. When we first moved in we were very impressed by the little tour they give you and the model apartment they show you, but what you get is really the complete opposite. Our entire apartment has issues. Our plumbing is aweful, the water goes from burning hot to freezing cold in a matter of seconds. One of our showers has hardly any water pressure, the other feels like you are being sprayed by a fire hydrant hose. The maintenance guys are extremely nice, but it takes several months to get anything you asked for to be looked at. I've had problems with the floor molding coming off the sides of the walls, the dishwasher doesn't work, the windows are from a million years ago and have no insulation. The heater doesn't work either. Be prepared to wait up to two months to get anything fixed and most of the time they have to come back and fix what they already 'fixed.' I've had them come back and re-fix MULTIPLE things. Sometimes I don't even bother calling them because I know it will be a nightmare to get it fixed. Our apartment gets absolutely NO LIGHT... and no sun. I have to wear TWO sweaters and turn on a little portable space heater just to be somewhat comfortable. If you want to let a little sunlight in, be prepared to have all your neighbors see directly into your house.
We live in a downstairs apartment and we can hear EVERYTHING that goes on above us. I swear that the people above us run laps or drop heavy stuff all the time. The ceiling creaks and makes so much noise. After a month or so you kind of don't hear it as much, but in the middle of the night it sounds like someone is breaking in. As for it being down the street from the police department, don't let that make you think it is safe here. There is a bus stop directly in front of the entrance way and there are always random people hanging around. The neighbors also have random people just hanging out in front of their patios.
The parking is awful. When we looked at this place we made the mistake of thinking parking would not be a problem because we came on a Friday morning. Parking is ok if you don't have a job or a life and never leave your apartment, but if you have a regular job you will have to park 2-3 blocks away if you come home anytime after 4pm.
Some of the neighbors are totally ghetto... they yell and scream and leave their doors open and hang out on their patios. You might as well live in El Cajon... you'd probably pay the same amount.
There is a laundry room here, but it is pretty expensive to wash and dry your cloths ($1.10 each). The washers are super small and can only fit about half a load. The dryers are a pretty nice size, but that is about all that is good about this place.
I strongly urge you to look at other places. Luckily we are only on a 6 month lease because otherwise I think I'd have to just break the lease and take the penalty. Oh yeah, they also don't tell you that the entire apartment has chemicals that are known to cause cancer UNTIL AFTER you sign you lease. This place is loud, has crappie neighbors, bad parking, lousy management, the complex is old and is falling apart. For the amount of money you are paying, you aren't getting anything even close to worth the money. Spend more time looking around at other apartments and don't get suckered into this place just by looking at the model. Look around across the street from the model and know that it is all smoke and mirrors. They take care of the outside of the place, but the rest is a joke. Please do not move here! You will thank me.
