Let me start by saying that at first glance the Villaggio is a very nice apartment complex in a nice, park-like setting complete with multiple ponds and a handful of ducks. But looks are very deceiving. I moved into the Villaggio in June of 2002. From the VERY FIRST DAY we were experiencing problems. We moved into our 2 bedroom apartment in the middle of a 5 million dollar renovation project. Our apartment was just remodeled and we were the first ones to occupy it so you would expect everything to be perfect. It wasn't. Our patio screen needed replaced in the first week. We did not have a bar in the closet to hang our clothes on. When we talked to management they said it would be taken care of immediately. A week and a half later we could finally hang our clothes up. There was constantly air in our water pipes so when we turned on a faucet all we got was a hissing noise then an explosion of water that would soak our stomachs. The bottom shelf in our refrigerator, the one that also serves as the top to the meat and produce drawer, was cracked from front to back the day we moved in. Keep in mind that all of our appliances were brand new. Management said that they had replacement shelves and they would replace it immediately. 9 months later it is still broke. Since we can't put any weight on it,(it is almost cracked in half) it is now sitting beside our fridge with our meat and produce drawers sitting exposed on the bottom of the fridge.
When we signed our lease they made us sign a paper saying that we would not have a car alarm. They said that if your car alarm goes off and disturbs someone then it will be towed. Well, in the first week we were there some guys car alarm went off at 2 in the morning RIGHT outside our window. And it continued to go off long enough to not only wake me up but to wake me up like I had been awake for the last ten hours. I was never able to get back to sleep. And it did not end there. 4 more times that month the same car alarm went off at 2 or 3 in the morning. The fifth time it went off I got up and went outside to deal with it myself. Keep in mind that from the time it went off I had time to wake up completely, get dressed and walk outside. I got out there to find the roving security guard writing down the guys license plate just as he did everytime before. As we were talking the guy came stumbling half dressed to his car and turned off his alarm without saying a word. The security guard told him if his alarm goes off AGAIN that his car will be towed! Now I'm not saying anything bad about the security guards. They do the best that they can do with their hands tied. But I'll get to that later. Anyway, car alarms continue to go off and still nothing happens. Right after we finally got this guy to disconnect his alarm a road construction crew began work on the highway from 9p.m. until about 6a.m. And there is nothing between us and them to buffer the noise. Between the car alarms and the construction we got MAYBE 15 nights of sleep in the whole month! So I finally went to the office to talk to the manager. I never expected to hear the words that came out of her mouth. She basically said that all of our apartment problems were our fault and that if we wanted to leave let her know right away because she had people waiting on our apartment! That's funny because the apartment below us was empty, the apartment beside us was empty, and the one below that one was empty. And that was just on our corner! The security guard that we made friends with said that there were a good 80 apartments that were open and that everyone was moving out and no one was moving in. That manager was later promoted.
I am going to summarize our current problems that we are having as I have been typing for a while with no end in sight. The grass has not been mowed for a while. There is a car up on blocks right by our apartment, the dumpster that we have in the parking lot to throw furniture in(exposed, out in the open, there are several) has a very large word tagged on the side. It is a good 6 feet high by 15 feet long. And that is the measurements of the graffitti! Today is Tuesday. Last Friday the plastic nob that turn the hot waterm at our kitchen sink cracked in half. I reported it on Saturday. I was told that a work order would be placed for our apartment. Nothing happened. Sunday I called again and they told me they would radio maintenance. Nothing hapened. When we got home yesterday, a Monday,it was still not fixed. Will we have hot water when we get home' Who knows. The other day we had someone parking in our assigned spot. When we found the security guard to get him to tow it he told us that the Villaggio management said that they are no longer towing cars because they were towing to many and that we would just have to park somewhere else. It wasn't the security guards fault. All the managements. I forgot to mention that a few months ago our air conditioning went out. We were told that the air conditioning guy was on site and that it would be fixed that day. A week later after we had forgotten that we placed a work order we go home to find the air conditioning on full blast AS HIGH AS IT WOULD GO with no one home. At the time we had a dog and we would keep the spare bedroom closed. The air conditioning guy left the spare room open and our dog got into some keepsakes and a can of wood filler with acetone(I had a wood shop prior to moving into the apartment)
To wrap up I would like to say that every one that live there complains and I don't know anyone who would recommend the complex. Where ever you lease, don't lease here! If you have any specific comments or questions feel free to e-mail me at p35bhp09@hotmail.com
