American Property Exchange is also known as American Marketing Systems Inc. or AMSI. From their website it appears that they manage upscale (pricey) condominium units for individual condo owners and investors, who are milking the pricy SF market for what it's worth but don't care to get their fingers dirty.
Management
If you sign a lease with AMSI, you are stuck with them for maintenance issues as well as routine administration. This means that if the plumbing breaks, the resident management office feigns interest but tells you to call AMSI. However, it's hard to reach AMSI because all you get is their voicemail and the average response time is 1-2 days, that is if you get a response at all. It could be that their responsiveness increases with how much rent they extort from the tenant each month, but that's just a guess. Short of the building being on fire, it ususally takes management 1-2 days to respond with a phone call telling you that you will receive another phone call from the maintenance man. The maintenance man, who is probably well-intentioned but overworked, takes another day or two to call, and schedules a visit a few days after that. Then he comes out to your unit, which by now is unliveable, and tells you that he can't fix it with the tools he has on hand, and has to reschedule another visit. You get the idea...
If you're looking for a clean, high security building, paid garage parking, posh amenities, and snooty neighbors, LOOK ELSEWHERE!
