After reading the reviews and living here I find the following to be accurate: The neighborhood is not dangerous, but full of homeless. They dont bother you, but your car will DEFINITELY be broken into if you park on the street. Underground parking costs about $200, and there is no attendant at night, so your car will be vandalized there too, just less frequently. The wood floors look great, but if you live below an apartment with them, you will be sorry....also, there is no carpeting to absorb the sound in apartments with the wood floors. If they turn up their TV, you wont need the sound on yours... Also, there are 400 apartments here. Only half have been converted to the new style. If you live here when they remodel an apartment close to you, you will be living in a construction zone for months. If that wasnt bad enough, they are building a 20 story building right next door. Not too quite. They will also start another building on the Market st side in a year or so...More noise comes in the form of two fire stations one block away, and every hour they scream past the building on their way down to Market Street to rescue another drunk homeless person. This goes on all day and ALL night. If you are a light sleeper, you better have earplugs.
The pluses: The office staff really tries(the whole TWO archstone allocates to residents, the others are Leasing agents) and the engineers are'nt that bad, just overwhelmed. The day security guy is great. Location is super convienient for everything. Especially schools, muni and bart right out front. Residents are pretty cool too.....the building itself (inside) is very safe.
But,I will leave here asap as soon as I graduate from SFSU, way too noisy.....
