Get what you pay for' Great answer (not) From: -Anonymous- Date posted: 4/16/2008 Years at this apartment: 2005 - 2006   That answer doesn't excuse a landlord from doing the things that were described here. And it is all true. I am a former tenant. Tenants have a right to live in habitable apartment regardless of what their rent is. IT'S THE LAW! Just because a landlord charges low rent, or a tenant can't afford better, does not give the landlord the right to subject tenants to squalor conditions. I was fortunate enough to be able to leave but I truly felt for those who couldn't.
