Decent choice - a lukewarm recommendation

I lived in a studio for 1 year...

First, the good stuff: this is a very well kept building. It is so CLEAN when you move in! The appliances are practically new, and everything has that brand new feeling. If you commute outside of the city for work, this place cannot be beat b/c of the freeway access. It is also very close to the Metreon and Union Square.

The maintenance guys are really great and the management team was pretty good, although I've heard that recently, there was a switch to a new team.

The bad stuff: if you live in a studio, you will have noise issues b/c the studios are next to at least one other studio. I never heard my upstairs or downstairs neighbors at all; the floors and ceilings are solid concrete. However, the walls tend to be thin, so you will hear your neighbors to the side. But, it's not too bad if you have nice neighbors.

Additionally, the parking: b/c Whole Foods is coming in, all resident parking will become valet parking. If you have issues with valet, and have a car, don't rent here. There were almost daily break-in's when I moved out, I don't know if that's still the situation there.

You have to really like that SOMA warehouse neighborhood feel to live here. There really isn't a neighborhood to speak of.

Getting your deposit back is a pain! It took me almost 1.5 months to get the money back, and they will deduct at least $100 for the carpet cleaning and maybe more for the painting depending on the condition of the walls (I got only $250 back from $500, although the apartment was left really clean!)

All in all, this is a decent choice if you don't have issues with valet parking. Once Whole Foods moves in, it may be really nice. One note: there was a lot of section 8 people moving in when I moved out. I never felt unsafe or that it got noisy, but if that's an issue for you, then be aware of it!
