I've lived here for 2 months now, and on the whole, I'm pretty happy with the place. Yes, the rent is a bit on the painful side, but you're paying for a very decent apartment in an absolutely awesome location.
It's in the Inner Sunset district, within walking distance of tons of great shops, restaurants, and pubs on 9th Ave and Irving St. It's also just 4 blocks from Golden Gate Park. There are several Muni lines that run close to the place, including the N-Judah Metro line that'll take you all the way across town or to Ocean Beach in the other direction. OK, the fog can be a bit heavy sometimes, but you have to expect that being just a couple miles from the Pacific. Geez, I sound like I work for the SF tourism department.
As far as the actual apartments, they're clean and quite spacious (especially by SF standards), at least my 1 bedroom is, I think the studios are kinda small. Plenty of closet space. Nice soft carpeting, although I think whoever installed my carpet must have been still in training or something 'cause it's coming up in several places. I've heard that mold is a big problem in the Sunset district ('cause of the fog), but my apartment is totally mold-free. There are also no bugs or anything like that (as far as I've seen).
I have to gripe about the heater though. It consists of a pipe thing along the outside wall through which hot water flows. I guess it's supposed to radiate heat into the room, but it basically sucks. It may work if you give it a few hours, but if you're cold, put on a sweatshirt.
Hmm, what else... Oh yeah, the hot water is great. It comes out pretty much instantaneously, and it is super hot. I don't know if all the apartments are like that though or if mine might just be really close to the water heater.
The "amenities" consist of the basement laundry room and, um, that's it. No pool, no gym, no rec room or anything like that. Sort of feels like they give you the shaft on that when you look at some of the stuff other (cheaper) apartment complexes have, but this is still a cool place.
I haven't had to deal with the staff much, but when I have, they've always been very friendly and polite. No complaints there.
Parking can be a problem if you have guests over with several cars (or even one). There are about 5 visitor spots for both buildings combined (oh yeah, there are two buildings in the complex, 6 Locksley and 8 Locksley). Street parking is often tough to find, but there is a public parking lot a couple blocks downhill.
The place seems very safe. I've walked through the neighborhood at all hours and never felt like I had to be too "on guard". The few homeless people you see down around Irving St don't seem too inclined to trekking up the hill to the area the apartment complex is. Plus, they never really bug you when you're down there.
Well, I guess that about covers it. To sum up, if you are OK with the rent, this place is very decent. It's definitely worth stopping by and at least taking a look at. Hope this has been helpful!
