I was staggered at the price of these apartments compared to comparable ones in the area, but I pay less because my view is not of the city, and of course the rent control really helps. I like it though, because I look out at a forested hill and it is very quiet except when the leaf blower comes out once a week. A HUGE advantage of these buildings, however, is that they are entirely dry (i.e. no mildew in the closets) which is basically unheard of in the ever-foggy Sunset district. If you have allergies, this is an important consideration.
The staff is on the whole really good; usually things get fixed in the apartment within a day or so. The staff miscalculated my rent once and they were really good about refunding my money once I showed them the right documents.
They do tend to have problems with paperwork (there was this problem a few years ago where they re-allocated parking spaces which already had cars in them), so it helps to keep a copy of everything they give you.
Car break-ins are a real problem but the building is in a safe city neighborhood.
