i remember reading all the complaints before moving in and being worried. however, i fell in love with the place and moved in anyway. i really loved it. the concierge staff was outstanding and the leasing staff was friendly. i thought the complex was beautiful and all the fixtures and appliances in my unit were excellent.

the windows have are double-paned so even though i faced king street, there wasn't a lot of noise during ball games. fortunately, the construction noise didn't bother those of us facing king street.

i did not have a car and walked to work downtown every day, so parking was never an issue for me. however, my friends did complain about tight spaces and not being able to get a second space without giving their first born child. :-)

one of the biggest plusses for me was the gym. it is great - lots of machines and weights and it is never so crowded that you have to wait for a machine. i also loved the yoga, kickboxing, and spinning classes. i really miss working out all the time.

i never noticed dog excrement as some other reviewers mention. i did hear some people complain about that, but they also seemed to really hate dogs in general so i am not sure if there really was a serious problem.

i also never heard a peep from any neighbor above, below or on either side - not one in two years! seemed like fabulous construction to keep the noise down. i did have one girlfriend that was able to hear her upstairs neighbors (she said it sounded like they were dropping a bowling ball from time to time)

i moved out in mid-2005 to buy a place and have just sold it. i would love to move back into avalon, but the rates have risen too much to be worth it to me. however, i had a wonderful experience living there. if you can afford it, you will likely love it too!
