BEFORE RENTING: visit Avalon after 10pm

Most apartment brokers / realtors recommend visiting a neighborhood before buying. When you visit at night, you get a better perspective of the neighborhood and the complex. Management can no longer disguise key issues concerning lack of safety or noise pollution.
After you visit at night, you'll notice a few things. First, there is no concierge in the Phase II apartments after 10pm - absolutely NO SECURITY. I do not feel safe here. Second, the CalTrain becomes a depot at night - the engines are left idle ALL NIGHT, and Avalon's cheap windows amplify the low-frequency noise. I did not realize how noisy the engines were inside the building, because I only visited the complex during the day. I am forced to use earplugs and earmuffs everyday, and I still have a hard time falling asleep due to this noise pollution. Third, the well-hyped amenities close at 10pm. The rec center, jacuzzi close at 10p -- even on weekends.
If, after visiting at night, you still want to rent, be Avalon's guest. If I save one nice soul from enduring this HELL I am experiencing, I will consider writing this post TIME WELL SPENT!
