i have been here about 6 months.
This a good place to live, esp if you commute down to silicon valley - the 280 is right here. I used to live in the Marina and now live here to save on the 30 min a day I used to spend just driving from the Marina to the freeways.
The complex and surrounding area is clean and quiet and mgmt is good - they fix any problems very quickly. The neighborhood is getting much better. There are a bunch of upscale restaurants, Borders, Safeway, wells fargo, quznos, etc. in the area and more apts/shops are opening up. It is much cleaner and nicer here than SOMA in my opinion.
The downsides are (1) the units are kind of pricey, but then again all of south beach is pricey, and (2) this only applies to sun-facing units, but my unit overlooks one of the pool courtyards and faces the sun. my unit gets VERY hot on sunny days (over 80) even in the winter and without a/c is isn't fun. if i were to leave, it would be to move to a shadier unit in this complex...but i'd still stay at bayside village. also (3) the walls are kind of thin.
