Soul-less, but well managed!

My husband and I just moved out of Bayside Village after a stay of nine months. We were very impressed by the management of the property. Everything is very well maintained, and the staff always helpful (and usually very nice). The free shuttle service to downtown was excellent. We thought the rent was fair, though the additional $350/mo. we paid for parking our two cars was painful. Our apartment was near the corner of Beale and Bryant, and the noise and dust from the CalTrans work on the Bay Bridge approaches was sometimes overwhelming. Bayside Village has done a great job of minimizing the noise with high-quality, double-pane windows -- so long as you keep them shut! Sound-proofing between units is excellent. We rarely heard our neighbors. About those neighbors: for the most part, they were cold and unfriendly. That, combined with utterly bland and anonymous finishes and decoration, made Bayside Village a rather soul-less place. Don't expect a sense of community from this place.

Thank god, I heard the truth before committing based on their false marketing. So any recommendations for a decent 1BR luxury apartment in Mi.Bay/SoBe area?
