Yo!

Jerry the apartment manager is a nightmare

I've lived here for a number of years and can say that the building is pretty great--it's in a great location and the tennants are also pretty great people. The apartments are nice, but a pretty overpriced these days, especially once you realize what you have gotten yourself into when you meet Jerry.

What makes this place suck is the management. Jerry is one of the worst apartment managers I have ever experienced. Not so much in that he doesn't really do his job (he does, although he complains about it constantly), but he is rude, mean, caustic, unfriendly, and downright bitchy.

I understand that he has been here for something like 15 or 20 years. Maybe he was a different person back then, but perhaps he should think about moving on as he is not terribly well-equipped to handle his responsibilities as apartment manager. I don't know why the landlord continues to employ him.

Good luck trying to contact the landlord, too. His contact information is rather difficult to come by, so any complaints or correspondence need to go through Jerry--so I can only assume the landlord is oblivious to how Jerry actually treats his tennants.

I also think that once you have been here for a while and your rent is lower than the newer higher rents, Jerry is encouraged to make your living situation as uncomfortable as possible so that you leave and they can rent the apartment at a higher price. I know a couple of tennants this has happened to and I am sure I'm somewhere on that list.

Our only hope as tennants is to hang in there until Jerry becomes so disabled that he has to move to an assisted living situation. Maybe then we will get a nicer apartment manager so that we can all live in peace.

But for new prospective tennants--run while you can. The dot com days are over. There are plenty of places to live, don't settle for this place until Jerry is gone.
