It's a beautiful old building near the Union Square center of town that looks great from the outside, but not so good once you start moving in. The elevators are too small for almost all standard sized furniture and are frequently out of order. The resident manager is a nice elderly gentleman who sleeps in the lobby when he is able to move. The wiring and plumbing are dangerous to life and limb, and parking is non existant. There are a lot of pests as in roaches and mice, and it appears there was a lot of damage from the last significant earthquake that has not been repaired. There is open hostility between owner and tenant groups within the building and the quality of the building is in rapid decline. It's a lot of headaches for a lot of money. The location is great, but there are a lot of shortcomings & drawbacks.

This is a completely old, and outdated review. The older gentleman has been replaced (3 years aog) by a young and vibrant girl that really knows her stuff and goes out of her way to accomodate dry cleaning, Fed Ex, and almost anything that needs to be done.
The building is checked monthly for pests, which there never are any, and never have been.
The building has been cleaned, repainted and there is no earthquake damage that I have ever seen. There may have been an issue with the individual apartment that this person looked at, but not with the building in general.
