I've lived here for a year now and let me tell you that coming from a bran new place in seattle to an old building in sf is total culture shock. I pay 1050 for a decent sized studio on the 4th floor... but what you pay for is living in the city. I can walk everywhere (shopping downtown, supermarket 2 blocks, laundry across the street etc...). The resident manager is a nice older lady who receives my packages so I dont have to trek over to UPS or FEDex (although the mail carrier sometimes is a little clueless).
The neighbors are my biggest problem here. (I'm not one to racially profile people, but I don't know their names so I have to use their ethnicity as a descriptive element here) Behind me is the crazy bipolar white girl (who likes to cry, sing and orgasm at the top of her lungs... and or while throwing large objects ie:furniture against the wall, about once every 2 weeks) Behind her is the ridiculously loud angry black man (who likes to yell at God knows who at the top of his lungs all day, and I mean all. day. ie:I go to class he's yelling, I come back at 10pm he's still yelling... and then the crazy white lady yells at him lol) And lets not forget the Japanese exchange students in front of me. (who like to smoke in the hallway ie: make my apartment stink as well because the gaps around my door.)
But all in all it's not a bad place to live. I have friends who live in apartments around the neighborhood and I definitely got the best place for the amount of money. The spray for pest about once a month (although I did see my first mouse today run across the floor, so fill up any holes ou might come across in the walls before you move in).

This is an obnoxious, false review.
If anyone takes the time to attempt to verify the information presented, it will not check out. For example, there would be no 'nice older lady resident manager...' but a building manager.

I have recentely moved into empire court and i think better to stay away from this apartments. These apartments have so many problems and the person incharged who is know to be as a property manager never do the things on time. Its really hard to get hold of these people. And funny thing is even the agencies who have some dealing with these people are even scared to spead to them. One of them is Ellis and Co. and this agency, all they know is get some tenents and let them how ever make them to stay for 3 months and try to get their signature on the contract. Thats it. Now the tenants are forced to stay for minimum 6 months. I have faced this manager name Deepak mehta who works in wembley branch. I have never ever seen such a worst manager in my whole life.

Ellis and Co & Deepak Mehta have nothing to do with Empire Court. I think the reviewer is confusing apartments. The manager is actually Mario R Castro (that's the name that goes on the rent checks every month).
